Does anyone but the media still think these companies reporting 20-40% earnings growth are actually selling 20-40% more stuff?

And that's in a real estate downturn.

Guess there are people who want to exercise the right to decide where they want to die.

Again, there is no such thing as a "national" real estate market. Just as there is no such thing as a "national" presidential election.

Many of America's individual real estate markets are performing poorly right now, some of them are breaking even, others are zooming upward. Manhattan continues to zoom upward because of conditions in that particular real estate market. The same may not be true of Queens or the Bronx. And San Diego certainly isn't zooming but no one is deciding between San Diego and Manhattan as a place to live if they work in New York City.

I'm not sure when the idea of the "national" real estate market came into existence.

Bean counters who don't want to do the regional work? Combine everything so no-one has a clear idea what is going on?

Part of the reason Manhattan is rising is because Wall Street pays out literally billions in bonuses each year.... BUT you will not see that this year and I predict the housing market in Manhattan will slow drastically going forward. It still may rise in price but not as steep.

The only factor that would reverse this is if the economy started booming and Wall Street starting raking in the profits and bonuses returned to their 5 year average. However I don't see this happening for a few years, if ever.
