The wisdom of elders is very important, because they've experienced and lived through about every problem there is. They know what to do in most situations.

Really? I find most "elders" are dimwitted social robots.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('bonehead', 'I')'m considering a wood stove for my basement but i'm not sure it's a good idea to vent that stove into the same chimney that my oil boiler vents to.

Install a separate chimney for the woodstove.

Then comes the fun part....Its very good exercise to chop and split your wood.......enjoy!

It took a while to get to $100. I remember watching CNN when it hit $100 and now it just seems to be rolling like a runaway stage coach.

I saw the news saying "oil fell as the dollar strengthened" when it dropped, oh, a dollar and then zoomed back up as if to say "neener, neener, made ya look...dumbass...ha...ha."

I'm new to this concept (I'm slow, perhaps about ready to go the way of the Dodo), but just for giggles I'll throw out a guess:

$150 by midsummer.

And, sadly, I agree, starvation for millions by the end of the year. God help us.

Did you guys see this link line on Bloomberg?

Oil tops $116 on signs stronger economy may boost demand

:-/

Just bask in the warm glow of that insight for a moment. If you are new to the whole issue of oil you might buy that. But if you have been around at all you have to be choking back a laugh or a very deep sigh.
I return to you now at the turning of the tide.

I was recently speaking to some 'elders' that I am related to about the cost of fuel in the UK, they are only in their 50's so I cant blame seniltity, but I was truly horrified by their responses.

They blamed 'treehuggers' and 'imigrants' for the rise in prices, they made bland sweeping statements like 'it just cant go on like this much longer', 'the price is rediculous' 'someone needs to do something'

I have tried to talk to them before about PO, but this time I just grunted in feigned agreement, I really doubt that they will have a clue what to do in any situation

I think, like all people, it depends upon how reflective the person is, regardless of age. We can mock some young people for thinking that tech = oil and we can mock some elders for thinking that immigrants or hippies are to blame. There are a lot of people with their head on crooked regardless of age, income, race or gender.

Geez, yes, I hear you. Some of my inlaws are of the "blame the brown people" variety. Meanwhile, my own mom, who was in the military and KNOWS we're about to get trampled doesn't want to do anything.

I talked to her about it the other day and she said, more or less, that she was screwed anyway and maybe it's just her time to go. I need to focus on the here and now and do my preps but she's done anyway.

My dad, divorced and remarried, and working for big engineering projects is lapping up the government contracts as we ramp up militarism. For him, it's boom time. Get what you can, while you can.

Uncle is over in Saudi and the UAE right now sniffing for scraps.

So much for looking to the older generation for guidance in my life! I'm on my own, but I think I always was.
