Glad I just got an all electric car. Maybe it can pay for itself if I rent it out?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('canis_lupus', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Gandalf_the_White', 'S')uper spike immenent, get ready for rationing if the prices are not allowed to rice at the pump. We should be somehwere in the $4.25 range for a national average by Memorial Day.

Gandalf, everyone who drives a diesel is paying $4.20 already, including truck drivers. Methinks I'd have to be $5 + before we see rioting in the streets of the US of A.

It's like the frog-in-a-pot-of-water thing...prices will continue to rise at this slow rate and we won't realize we're cooked until it's over.

Methinks.

No kidding - I drive a diesel Jetta, and it costs me almost $60 to fill it up.

Thank goodness I get 40 MPG - 10.7 cents/mile for fuel.

Compare this with 16.9 cents/mile for the wife's 4Runner, even with regular at 70 cents cheaper than diesel. Diesel would need to be north of $6/gal to break even with my gasser, if gas stayed the same price (dubious assumption).

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Eli', '.')..We knew before we left port that the trip would end badly.

Yes, but we didn't think it would turn out to be such a short voyage. All this shit was supposed to hit the fan some time off in the future.

But, of course, as we've been saying, it appears that the fast-forward button is stuck, and nobody can pry it loose...

I feel weird too. It is like being among the crew of the film "das Boot" when their submarine was bombed at Gibraltar and going down. The chief engineer has to report to the captain that the boat is sinking and that he can't do anything more about it. All they can do is to watch the depth gauge climb and to listen for the creaking of metal and the bolts breaking.

We talked about this for years now yet i must rub my eyes and still can't believe that the world is actually entering an new, possibly cruel era.
I think this little period is the foreshadowing, the recession and new big crop yields will help ease the price of oil and food later this year. It is the overture to the symphony, not the great magnus opus of schadenfrunde yet.

Smog will get you pretty soon.
Everyone was hanging out
Hanging up and hanging down
Hanging in and holding fast
Hope our little world will last.

Come on people better climb on board
Come on babe we're going home.

I'm thinking closer to $8-10 before the large marches start.

Pops, had a half page list of what we're doing this year, and lost it to a fat-fingered keystroke! But yeah, we are going all out on alternative energy, gardening, water catchment, conservation, storage, and other preps. This looks like a crucial year to me.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('misterno', 'I') work in an Fortune 500 energy company

When I told people that oil is $117, here are the answers I got;

- who gives a *hit

That said employee will when it gets too expensive to keep him on as an employee.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '-')I can't care less

That person will care when things go downhill, but by then it will be too late.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '-')I am gonna bang my girl tonight

Good, so she gets pregnent, and we add another dumbass to the world's overcrowding population. Then again he might as well have "some fun" while the going is good, because it will not be like that soon.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '-')Is it gonna effect my paycheck? No. So what the *uck I care

It will and probably is affecting his paycheck because every extra penny gas goes up is one less penny he can use to buy more stuff at Wallyworld. Plus, the added inflation eats away at his paycheck as well. He should care!
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '-')Don't you have anythingelse to do?
Of course, hate on the messenger.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '-')What can I do about it? Nothing, so?
What can he do is educate others, conserve fuel, carpool, pay down debts, learn to garden. See there is plenty! 8)
