China's March crude oil imports surge 25% to a record. “China's crude oil imports jumped 25 percent in March to a record as state-controlled refiners increased fuel production to end shortages in the fastest- growing major economy. Imports rose to 17.3 million metric tons, about 4.1 million barrels a day...”

Fears emerge over Russia's oil output. “Russian oil production has peaked and may never return to current levels, one of the country’s top energy executives has warned, fuelling concerns that the world’s biggest oil producers cannot keep up with rampant Asian demand.”

I'm just re-watching "Oil Storm" and one of the "headlines" near the start is "Oil hits a record of $153 per barrel... LOL, we're not that far from that now......

Yep. Peak Oil. We thought here that no one would admit we were passing the peak, but in just the last few days Russia and even the Saudis are saying in their own way - that's all folks.

In addition, there is news that China is buying shares of BP:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')pril 15 (Bloomberg) -- China bought a stake in BP Plc, its second investment in a European oil company as the nation seeks to secure resources and boost returns on the world's largest foreign-exchange reserves.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('KingDavid', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('joewp', 'N')ew record just a few minutes ago: $112.45

At what site do you check oil prices joewp, the ones i scan have a 5 to 10 minutes delay it seems...

I have an account with Interactive Brokers and have their software running which hooks into the NYMEX electronic trading market. Right now, the last trade was for 112.33 for 1 contract, and it was a down tick. RBOB is at 2.8300 and heating oil is 3.2170. Pork bellies are at 74.375. :)

All this for $1 a trade for stocks and options and $2.95 round trip for futures.

As I typed, oil hit $112.48 and "backed off" to $112.46

Well, no it's not, I know that. But considering watching this at 11pm is like after-hours here. But as Armageddon explained which is the answer to my question.

I ran into the owner of our local gas station at the bank yesterday. I always pump him about the oil market/ peak oil when I get the chance. He said, his cost for diesel is $4.00 gal now and the USA is exporting the stuff. WTF?

Things are really starting to unravel and I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I am a little freaked out. Continuing record oil, record foreclosures, huge wholesale cost increases, gas has gone up 8 cents in the last 3 days here (to $3.55 for 87 octane), and hunger riots.

Anyone have any good fuckin' news?

The wheels are starting to come off. Glad I close on my land tomorrow. Wish I had closed on it two years ago.
