$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Ferretlover', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('overlever', 'T')hat's the thing: it can differ. My wife still has no detectable damage because it happened so quickly, and they started her on the proper medication right away. But then again: what use is a perfectly healthy skeletal system when you are often too tired and weak to use it.

If you have children (I can't remember), there is a simple blood test for the gene that indicates RA. I had both sons tested; one has it, the other does not. The one who does not, called me with his results and informed me that the doctor told him there is a 25% suicide rate among people with RA.

25%?! Holy shit!

Fortunately neither of us wanted to have kids anyway. :) But yes, I can imagine the suicide rate being that high. If simply existing hurts like hell, then I wouldn't stop my wife. Let's hope it never comes to that.
Nature shows that with the growth of intelligence comes increased capacity for pain, and it is only with the highest degree of intelligence that suffering reaches its supreme point.

Woeful One,

Wow, some of the folks here are kinda heartless. Hang in there, it ain't over til it's over.

First of all, keep reading.

Second, research alternatives. Look everywhere.

Third, stock up if you can.

Fourth, work on finding new friends and making a new, wider definition of family for yourself and your wife.

Fifth, realize we ALL are going to die. I could be in a car crash this afternoon and gone tonight! Who ever knows what the future holds? There are NO guarantees. Live your life and value every precious day.

BTW, I have a special needs child who requires meds, so I know what you are feeling somewhat.

Hang in there.

Review Kubler-Ross stages of mourning. You are going through them. You will be better off after a few stages. Be gentle with yourself.

Eventually everyone will be in shock like you are. Then you'll be ahead of the game.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('PopeGideon', 'I') know this is brutally cruel, but as I'm reading this guy's post, all I could think was, "natural selection."

Do you know what natural selection means?
