A Song For Tyler

Unread postby PenultimateManStanding » Sun 06 Apr 2008, 15:17:20

Hey Dude, who won't be sad
Sunshine and wind mills will make it better
Remember the oil makes all of our food
Sunshine and wind mills won't make it better

Hey Dude, best be afraid
I know that I am it seems you aren't
But the minute you let it under your skin
Then you begin to quake and shudder

But no one wants peak oil pain, it's plain
Or carry the world upon their shoulder
Well don't you know that it's true
This world that oil made so new
Is soon to be so much older

Hey Dude, it's going down
Hoping for sunshine but getting slaughter
Remember the soil washed into the sea
The world is dieing but we just let her

So have no doubt and let it in, hey Dude, begin
You're waiting for wind to make a performance
The winds will come it's true, hey Dude
Winds blow but the world just gets so much colder

na, na na nananna na oil's all gone, hey Dude
na, na na nananna na oil's all gone, hey Dude, etc.

So I break my own rule and post too soon to my own thread. One is supposed to wait a day before letting it go down the memory hole. But speaking of songs, I recall the lonely doctor in her lonesome cabin in the wilderness of Montana. She didn't like this song. Indeed, there may be trouble ahead. We will have to pay the bill. Meanwhile, let's face the music and dance.

I don't get it.

I don't know the song that you are parodying so I'm sitting here confused.

Clue #2

It was featured prominately in a recent movie/musical.

The main character was named after the title of the song and it rhymed with Dude.

I figured that out once I tried to sing it to myself but just looking at the lines passively (read: massively hung over), I wasn't getting it.

If people continue to use this as a vehicle to take pot shots at me I'm going to toss an IED under bumper...if you catch my drift.

Everyone should try this. Pick a well known song and rearrange it. Any well known song will do:

God Damn America
Land that he loathes
Reverend Wright says
What Howard Zinn says
Through the night with the light
From a bulb

From the mountains
to the oil fields
The Central Bank too
Is out to screw you
God damned America
A long, long time ago

You see? it's easy.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('eastbay', 'N')o work today?
I've got a gig Wednesday. I joined the YMCA to swim in their pool. My goal is to lose 40 pounds. Wish me luck, friend. But yes, if you're wondering, I got calls for Monday, and I've got calls for Tuesday. As a matter of fact, they keep coming in, but I'm not very healthy. I love teaching, but most of the time I'm just a babysitter. It's not easy being deaf, I tell myself that when it's all over in the new world I will hear just fine.

SUPER!! Remember, no high calorie food and no ... uh, well, maybe less high calorie drinks. There are calorie-free alternatives if you know what I mean.

Calories out must be fewer than calories in. Simple elementary school math. You may experience an undulating plateau at first... then a nice decline as time passes. Don't be discouraged if you find yourself loitering around for a few weeks on the plateau.
