I was discouraged just now ...

Unread postby RedStateGreen » Mon 24 Mar 2008, 21:57:06

... tired, overwhelmed, whatever. Decided to water the garden, nice sunset, started feeling a little better. Still mopey... then I saw the most perfect purple tipped asparagus shoot, the first of the year, thick as my finger (which I didn't expect for a while, I just planted these last year) ... so I snapped it off and ate it, nice and cold in the wind, and I felt better. God always seems to do something to encourage me when I feel down. :)

Nice. :)

The best artichoke I ever had was grown in the back yard. Thick pulp and delicious flavor. It was unbelievable.

Isn't it funny how eating something from your garden is so sublime? I love to stick my hand in the dirt and find potatoes, they're like little lumps of gold. I greet each leaf of lettuce and juicy berry with joy. I have an artichoke plant that I'm anxiously awaiting. Heaven for me may resemble Italy.

fresh raw asparagus is yummy to the extreme. i also lightly grill it with a dijon, cream and butter sauce. the only beans my boy will eat are raw, fresh out of the garden. something about fresh-picked makes them taste really good. I'm gettin' set to plant taters this weekend, if i can get the tiller running.

Have you tasted "Heart of palm"? ...It may be nice to start growing some ^_^

I've planted oranges, tomatoes and papaya. I think that 2 orange trees are starting to grow because of the shape of leaves (they're tiny and cute).
