It has been a real problem to all the nations in the entire world. Day to Day the fuel prices is going up and up. Where is the end? Like all the nations have being kneel down in front of OPEC countries. Even The President George\Bush does not have a reply in front of Oil Price hike. Seems to be he also helpless. We got to find a precaution for this oil crisis. It was a wish of the father of Latest Information Technology Sir Arthur C. Clerk to find another resource instead of Oil and Power crisis in the world. Being a Sri Lankan, (a small country situated in the Indian Ocean) we have face to a crisis where we can not solve at any cost. But there is one solution. If every body gets up and united we will solve this problem very easily. We got another power where no body has any substitute for this super power. This is the best time we got to wakeup. We all the nations has this resource at a certain extent and we can use as a weapon against Oil Price Crisis. THE SOLUTION IS WATER. Let us use it against OIL. Only we got to do is refraining from Exporting Water to The OPEC countries. Or export water for the equal amount of money. IF we united, we can make them to kneel down in front of us. I

A. We don't export water to OPEC nations, there are much closer places they can get it.

B. Much of the US oil imports come from Canada and Mexico, not OPEC

C. You suggestion does nothing to address the true cause of recent prices which is a combination of the US dollar in free fall and the supply of Oil reaching a plateau (and most likely soon a decline)

The original poster does make a very good point. However its not water OPEC (Mostly Arab countries) imports, its food which it doesn't have the water to grow.. Thats not to say they don't have water problems, they are draining their water table like most countries and some are working on desalination plants since they have all the energy.

Most Arab country's have a population far beyond what they can feed with domestic production. Nations like the USA export vast quantity's of wheat and other bulk produce that keep Arab populations artificially high, just like Arab nations export vast quantity's of oil that keep other country's populations artificially high.

In the future Arab leaders will have two choices to feed their populations, well actually three but the third involves war. They could exchange oil for food as they have always done or the better choice using oil grow food. This is done by pumping water from underground into the desert, perhaps the smarter ones will buy solar panels and wind turbines to do so which could give them and extra 50 years of food security until the equipment breaks down, replacements are no longer affordable and there is no more underground water.
