So I walk a lot and due to the nature of my footstrike (I'm an underpronator), I tend to wear out the rubber of the bottoms of my shoes long before the upper or insole is worn much at all.
So I've been thinking that I should just find a way to attach fresh rubber to the bottoms and thus get way more life out of them. But, these aren't dress shoes with a detachable heal and sole--these are regular athletic shoes. I know that contact cement will probably work to attach the patches/new soles, but does anyone have any idea of what material I should use to make the actual new soles, and where to find it?
I'm a pretty resourceful guy, but I can't find anything appropriate, except for the soles sold for resoling dressing shoes, but those really aren't right for the athletic shoes I wear.
