Ya Think!

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'N')EW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- All of those people that believe high oil prices will hurt the economy may be onto something.

$100 oil hurts, just like a recession

I hope my track record ends at some point. I am tired of telling people I told you so about the housing bust, oil prices, and recession. I'm getting pretty good at it though. I can almost do it without sounding like a smug bastard.

On the other hand, I hope I stop being right before we get to "no good solution" to peak oil. I mean, I'd love it if the cornucopians were able to tell me "I told you so."

Don't count on it, benzoil. We're way past the "no good solution" already. We passed it sometime in the early 20th century. Once we started using oil for food production, we fell into the "overshoot" trap. Now the only way is down, population-wise.

I know, that's what scares me. I just fervently hope that it's something that happens "somewhere else". Of course, I "hope" this while learning to farm.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('BlinkBlink', 'E')ven if they come up with a solution to Peak Oil and we keep consuming like we do, some other catastrophe will get us like GW, the ocean eco system collapsing, top soil depletion etc.

The unending growth based paradigm needs to change. If not no fix, solution or alternative will get the noose from our collective neck.

I saw an old black and white movie rerun on TV one night.
A big buff gangster in a Hawaiian shirt took a little guy
and hung him with his shirt up on a revolving rack.
He then alternated left and right punches with the
guy flying around a full circle with each punch to come
back for a blow to send him in the other direction again.
Finally the big goon paused and asked the semi conscious
man on the rack for the answer one last time. Hearing
the same answer he got before he beat the poor guy,
he said:

"Ya know, I had a hunch you was on da square
da whole time!"

I now wonder if the big goon worked for Bugsy or Lefty at
CNN Money.
