On the cover of the newest, hot-off-the presses issue of Popular Mechanics is "The truth about Oil". One of the associated articles is entitled "How long will it last". From what I've read so far, it's typical cornucopian rhetoric, but peak oil is mentioned a couple of times including a production graph showing the peak of "existing oil capacities" occurring in 2005! Of course, the graph shows growing production through 2030 due to enhanced oil recovery, new discoveries, unconventional sources, etc.
Before you run off to the newsstand to buy an issue, or while you're waiting for the story to be posted online, check this out:
Popular Mechanics podcast
Included in this podcast is a piece entitled "The case against oil independence" (starting at 1min 50sec in). Robert Bryce, author of Gusher of Lies, talks about why alternatives won't keep us from importing foreign oil.
Bottom line: more of the same from MSM, but at least they throwing around the words "peak oil" a little more often.
