That is a genuinely disturbing piece of video, and that was very much a live puppy. It doesn't really surprise me that someone would do it. Being surrounded by that sort of death and mayhem does screwed up things to people's heads. What surprises me though, is that they would take a picture of it, and put it on youtube. I gotta think that is not the message that the US army wants to spread is that it's soldiers kill puppies for the fun of it. I gotta think their superiors are probably gonna be none to happy about it. Maybe they're angling for a section 8 or something.

I haven't watched the video and probably won't. But, I had a student last semester who is an Iraq war vet. He told me that they used to shoot the strays in Baghdad because they are out of control and would likely die of starvation or hurt someone. Hearsay, but there you are.

We drowned kittens by the sack full when I was a kid. Didn't need them. Runts of any type of litter were often put down. Dinner was alive that morning. It's an animal. Now it's dead.

How much do you have to screw up a person's mind to make him believe it's not only ok to kill another human but that it's a good thing? These guys are only just barely across the line. Watch for the defense that they thought it was an enemy combatant or was carrying an IED.
