At Katrina? They were there. They didn't really do much other than interefere with everyone else's response, but they were definitely there.

Sifting through the ashes every day

Martial law full steam ahead. Start packing your things for a new life in a FEMA camp.

A telling statement.

So when the folks in Quebec start rioting, Canada doesn't have to send i nit's own troops to fight their citizens, they can use the 82nd Airborne. Likewise, when fuel shortages hit the midwest during planting or harvest time, Canadian troops can be used to keep order. Things are getting interesting.

Canada currently has somewhere between 1000 and 1500 troops on the ground in Afghanistan. That is really starting to stretch our capabilities and they are getting creative on ways to keep manpower up.

Realistically in the event of emergency our troops are going to be used the same way they were after Katrina. We sent down 1 ship to help clean up in the gulf. We sent down some rescue helicopters but you supplied the crews to fly them and we had a bunch of search and rescue specialists voluntarily go down before an official response happened.

America coming into Canada to help out is entirely a different thing.

Oh Yea.

If the USA invades Canada, hundred of thousands of plastic Canadians holding dual citizenship and living overseas will rush home to repel the invaders.

haha there is no allegiance to this country. 1 in 5 people living in Canada don't even have citizenship. The only loyalty is to the money God. If there weren't so many jobs here, no one would come. It would just be us Ukrainians in Alberta, the Brits in Ontario, the Quebecois in Quebec and the Celts in the East. It will be interesting to see people jump ship.

The largest group of immigration into Alberta by any single group was American's at the end of the Civil War, and English Canadians from Ontario at the turn of the last century. The Uke component came much later and is not as substantial as your multi-cult schooling would have you believe. For example it was US investment that created Alberta's great wealth. The true founder's of Alberta were US citizen's who immigrated to Alberta in masses that have never been exceeded by any group beginning at the end of the US civil war.

Do you have a source for immigration numbers? Were the 'mericans mostly scots-irish? There was a large movement west after the war. I didn't realize so many headed north. Same thing happened during the revolution. Many came back after 1820.

It's Official: Canadian Army to Protect US During Emergency

Unread postby mmasters » Fri 29 Feb 2008, 20:24:42

North American Army created without OK by Congress
U.S., Canada military ink deal to fight domestic emergencies

Posted: February 24, 2008
By Jerome R. Corsi

In a ceremony that received virtually no attention in the American media, the United States and Canada signed a military agreement Feb. 14 allowing the armed forces from one nation to support the armed forces of the other nation during a domestic civil emergency, even one that does not involve a cross-border crisis.

The agreement, defined as a Civil Assistance Plan, was not submitted to Congress for approval, nor did Congress pass any law or treaty specifically authorizing this military agreement to combine the operations of the armed forces of the United States and Canada in the event of a wide range of domestic civil disturbances ranging from violent storms, to health epidemics, to civil riots or terrorist attacks.

In Canada, the agreement paving the way for the militaries of the U.S. and Canada to cross each other's borders to fight domestic emergencies was not announced either by the Harper government or the Canadian military, prompting sharp protest.

"It's kind of a trend when it comes to issues of Canada-U.S. relations and contentious issues like military integration," Stuart Trew, a researcher with the Council of Canadians told the Canwest News Service. "We see that this government is reluctant to disclose information to Canadians that is readily available on American and Mexican websites."

The military Civil Assistance Plan can be seen as a further incremental step being taken toward creating a North American armed forces available to be deployed in domestic North American emergency situations.

The agreement was signed at U.S. Army North headquarters, Fort Sam Houston, Texas, by U.S. Air Force Gen. Gene Renuart, commander of NORAD and U.S. Northern Command, or USNORTHCOM, and by Canadian Air Force Lt. Gen. Marc Dumais, commander of Canada Command.
