.... CYPRUS!!

54% of Cypriots pulled the Communist Party lever in todays presidential elections. Finally some common sense has arisen! Now, if only the rest of the world had such basic common sense. :)

Have fun storming the castle. :)

Eastern or Western Canada looks attractive. I mean if you could get squatted in there somewhere remote.

'Castle Storming' is my middle name SPG! :)

In a few years, after PO and the developing economic calamity has taken its worldwide toll, and the middle class becomes a footnote in old textbooks, the castles will be easily overrun.

I will be carrying a torch. So will millions of others. It will be great fun. We can organize some serious long-term powerdown.

All for the promise of a daily bowl of rice.

Eastbay - No honkies??? You high? France is full of honkies, they handed more Jews over to the Nazis than the Nazis could ever have rounded up themselves, they idolize heroes like the bike racer Anquetil, an icy-eyed Viking if there ever was one, and some damn fine racist literature has come out of France, not the least of which The Camp Of The Saints.

Sure, they've got niggers and everything else there, but I'm not even sure if their niggers are the entitlement-mentality pricks we have here.

I kind of see France as the US with Age Of Enlightenment culture and good food.

At the moment I'm in Australia, but I'm thinking of Canada, around Toronto actually.

What do you think about this choice?

Yeah, Mr Bill's in Cyprus. The lucky dog.

He should be waking up in a few hours beginning the week with a very good start!

Eastbay, you must be very excited. Lots of good communist news from all over the world.

The capitalist pigs in Cyprus are shaking in their boots, I'm sure.

(MrBill's not a capitalist I hope.)

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '
')Christofias, 61, ran on a pledge to preserve the country's 15 billion-euro ($22 billion) market economy, ruling out nationalization of companies. He vowed to step up efforts aimed at reunifying the island that's been divided since Turkey invaded its northern part in 1974 in response to a coup by supporters of union with Greece.

Oh ya, this guy is a Red-To-The-Core Commie.

How can you have a Communist government with free market Capitalism running amok?

This man is a small "s" socialist, not a big "C" Communist.

No Communist Utopia is in store for Cyprus but an interesting turn of events, none the less. I'll be interested to see if Christofias can finally unify Cyprus under one government and tear down the wall.

Actually, he's a big 'C' communist. The capital letter means he's a member of a party.... in this case, the party leader.

I think what you might be trying to say, Tyler, is that many communist (the terms 'communism' and 'socialism' are synonyms among leftists... no, not democratic socialists, who are capitalists in almost every way, I' mean real leftists) parties, such as the one in Cyprus, are pragmatically imbedded into free market economics and when voted into office have little intention of taking serious steps on the road to an egalitarian society.

That's exactly what I was trying to say, thanks for the clarification. :)

I was trying to say that a Communist government in Cyprus will not actually fulfill Communist ideals like nationalized industry and cradle-to-grave government safety nets.

Exactly, Tyler.

Oh sure, I would bet that if you read their printed literature it would be filled with all the usual Leninist and wealth distribution ideals, as they all are, but you watch, in office they'll be treading lightly fearful of, 1) getting voted out of office, and, 2) upsetting the current economic structure and status quo too greatly.

Note: I'm speaking in general terms here, of course, and have no special knowledge about Cyprus, other than what anyone with a mouse and keyboard can read online. cia.gov offers a quick fact-filled read, as always.

Stay the hell out of Moronto..The mayor is a freaking spineless dickhead i woudn't be surprised to be ready to grab the pocket money of kids, worst : he's always asking for a federal ban of handguns owned by lawfull firearms owners since him and his croonies aren't up for the job!

I know, the logic is retarded but it goes with the guy..So far, i can see degenerating into a hell one pretty fast, it's already beginning.

If it must be Ontario, i've hear that Northern Ontario is pretty sweet :)!
