Wow, classic Will Vinton.
I think I still have this on VHS somewhere. Came out in '85. I've always enjoyed animation as an artform, Claymation being a favorite, and this is Will at his best. A whimsical glimpse into the mind of one of the truly great writers of recent history, with James Whitmore voicing Twain.
The vignettes are
highly compressed versions of some Twain classics - this clip for example illustrates only one brief episode from a series of deeply thoughtful interactions portrayed in
The Mysterious Stranger - and I highly recommend their full iterations if you've never read Twain.
A worthwhile addition to any home video library Strat. You won't be disappointed...
EDIT: By the way, tho' animated, it's not really children's fare. Some of the subject matter may raise some uncomfortable questions from younger ones.
