I love Bill Cosby's standup. Everything about his childhood is funny. William "The Refrigerator" Perry's use of manhole covers as 45 lb weights as his bench press as a kid is inspiring. Jim Chapelle's standup is unbelievably funny. Turn on the NBA and see if you can upstage the black athletes (can't be done). Eddie Murphy's transformation from Raw to Dr. Doolittle is pretty interesting. He had kids, didn't he.

Mayor Raymond Berry and Mayor Washington. Dr. Martin Luther King. Dr. Washington Carver and his famous peanut. Oprah Winfrey. There are uncountable notable black people.

I am very happy to report that there are many black people who contribute to American society in a positive manner.

I couldn't find a photo of her, but she sure writes a lot of articles. She's a paleoconservative and believes that Black people took a wrong turn in following W.E.B. Dubois instead of Booker T. Washington. She writes a lot about the Tuskegee school (not the experiment or the pilots), and about Black entrepreneurs from the late 1800's and early 1900's.

If your kid has to write an essay about Black History Month, there's a lot of material there that isn't mainstream and is mostly unknown and unheralded.
