$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', 'Y')ou missed the other thread? There are hundreds of other threads you missed! And you would probably ignore all of them because you are a boring troll who has yet to succeed at your obvious mission: debunk the serious consequence of the end of oil. You are a tiresome bore oily.

Sorry. That thread was created in August and I did not join this forum until December. But it would hardly be the first time someone created another thread on a topic that's already been discussed.

I am a troll to you because you cannot successfully counter my points, and I have already proven you wrong several times in my brief time here.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I') am a troll to you because you cannot successfully counter my points, and I have already proven you wrong several times in my brief time here.

But you are a troll, I figured that out here in this post about shale back in December '07.

I called you out, but you never replied. Just kept spinning your bullshit instead - troll.

Oil-Looser is much more resilient than a simple troll. He has many lives and regurgitates the same spew each morning as the sun rises. It is likely that Oil-Looser is a golem.

Honestly does he not even read previous posts, or do the simplest research before posting? If he did he would have realised that the THAI process has been discussed to death in this forum over the years. We are still awaiting the proceeds of this "breakthrough" with baited breath. Fuckin' troll.

Dude, you are the troll. After I showed you that Shell said they plan on continuing their research, you just repeated your claim, as a troll always does. You paid no attention to what the guy said:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '[')b]"Davis stressed that the withdrawal of the mining permit does not lessen Shell's commitment to continuing research at its Mahogany Research Project between Rangely and Meeker and eventually building demonstration projects on its federal leases.

"There is a very active program up there, and that will continue," Davis said."

So, what would you do in response to that? You would just repeat your claim - again. What is the point?

I am sorry I did not scan all the threads from the previous 5 months before I posted this. The next time you start a thread on a topic that's been discussed before, I will be sure to point out to you that you did not scan all the threads for the previous 5 months.

Well, I have more hope for Oil-Finder then that. If he started the thread like Graeme with just the information and then argued with the doomers about the implications, that small change would have made for a much better approach and presentation. But Oil-Finder's relatively new and I don't think his persistence is a bad thing.

Also I can't fault him for not knowing much about how to search this site. The internal search engine is tricky and he may not know the google trick.

Image

You can very quickly get a list of posts about a topic using google...

--------------------------------------------------------------------

And something we probably need to do...
Toe to heel air injection tech, is going to be an on going trend. This thread and the thread created earlier both have really bad titles. We could merge threads and retitle the threads or start a new thread with a new title "Toe to heel Air injection (THAI)". Something people will see and understand.

Since this technology has progressed from the experimental to the production stage, I think ultimately a better thread title will be needed. Which is perhaps another reason Oil-Finder had a difficult time finding existing threads...

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', 'I')t's kind of interesting that yesplease and Oil-Looser are both here tonight together at the same time.

It's become apparent that they are not of the same troll tribe. Otherwise they could not post simultaneously. Trolls tribes typically only have one internet connection per burrow and so this is conclusive proof that this particular burrow is networked.

Not trolls. Morlocks? Meercats?

Speaking of interesting things, I find it interesting you spend half your time here calling people trolls and other names. It seems this is the only way you know how to debate. Once someone says something you cannot counter, all you do is call them a troll, accuse them of living in a fantasy world, or some other insult. This is all you do, probably because it's all you're capable of doing.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', 'O')il-Looser you are a damn fool. You are free with your derogatory ad hominems. Doomer WTF etc. I am not a doomer. I have educated myself here and on the Oildrum and have read many many books and articles on petroleum production and geology. I am concerned and I KNOW MORE THAN YOU.

There have been years of discussion about SAGH and THAI and other advanced heavy crude oil production technologies. It is tiring to have you preciously present us with crap that you think is new and exciting, WITHOUT YOU BOTHERING TO DO THE LEAST BIT OF HOMEWORK FOR YOUR EDUCATION.

There is a search button up there above this screen. All you do is press it and then type in THAI or SAGH or tertiary production.

it is tiring re-educating all the newbies who ARE TOO LAZY TO DO THEIR HOMEWORK

Dude, I said it before and I will say it again: I might be new to this forum, but I have been debating and studying these issues for years. In fact, I was educated as a sort-of environmentalist (an urban planner) and believed in limits of growth and all that sort of thing for a very long time. To make a long story short, my transformation came about the exact same way, and for the exact same reason as Bjorn Lomborg.

Your own bias is blantant: You dislike technology, don't trust it, and don't think it ultimately works. This is why you constantly mock people who place any faith in it. This is why you don't believe the technology which is the topic of this thread will work either. And when myself or someone else (in the other thread on this topic) tell you that, yes, in fact it does work and works just fine, and that it almost certainly has a nicely positive EROEI, and seems to be very promising, you scoff at them, call them a techno-lover or some other name. When someone tells you that oil sands have been profitable for years, and currently continue to be profitable, you make up all sorts of excuses as to why these profits are illusory. In brief, any time someone points out that a technology works, you go into denial and the insult machine starts. But I'm sorry to inform you: Technology can - and frequently does - solve problems. The fact that you are discussing these issues on a computer, posting things over a network spanning the globe, is but one piece of evidence that technology works. I'm sorry if it does not appeal to your aesthetic sensibilities, you'll just have to get used to it.

Re: Trolling

Quick question: If non-doomers such as Oil-Finder and JD really believe what they say, that peak oil is either decades away or a non-issue, or both... why spend so much time on peak oil sites getting in arguments? What is the payoff? Why not just let the crazies be crazy and live one's life as if nothing's wrong, which they seem to sincerely believe is the case? Why come here at all? I understand some people just like to debate for debate's sake, but certain folks seem to spend an inordinate amount of time at it. I sure as hell don't go trying to convert people to Darwinsim on rightwing fundamentalist forums.

I mainly use this site for another dimension on world news. One thing I don't do is spend hours, days, weeks researching obscure statistics to throw at people who I know aren't going to all of a sudden throw up their hands and say "Hallelujah, I have seen the light!! You were right all along!" There are more important things in life, IMHO.

The same question could be asked of the peakers/doomers. Why do they spend so much time trying to convince non-peakers that doomsday is just around the corner? If it ever did come, it will be obvious to everyone, oil production will plummet, oil prices will skyrocket, and doomsday will arrive. Then they'll be able to say, "I told ya so!" What's more, many of these peakers don't even seem to think that nuclear, hydrogen, solar or anything else will be sufficient substitutes, which really makes one wonder why they bother trying to warn anyone at all? If there will never be anything as good as oil and other hydrocarbons, and if those are on the verge of peaking, then no amount of warning will do any good, because the available substitutes will be insufficient, and we'll be doomed anyway. The best they can hope for is to delay the inevitable.

Shut up troll. If you don't believe that peak oil, or any other perpetual growth induced calamity is a big deal, then why don't you fuck off and set up an e-Bay store, buy a new house 50 miles from town, a big SUV to get you there and a 6 foot wide plasma TV so you won't miss any mainstream consumer messaging? Apology accepted. Helpful hint for our lower Intellectual Quotient friends. No need to scan ALL the threads. A simple search of this site with key words such as THAI would do the trick.

Ahhh yes it's terrible to be of feeble mind and believe yourself having some important knowledge to share :)

Does anyone else see the moronic irony here?

I would say about 25% of pstarr's posts do nothing but claim this poster or that poster is a troll. Kinda a waste of bandwidth.

Note to pstarr- Try the ignore button if you only wish to conversate with people who see everything exactly as you do. A "forum" is designed for discussion of various topics from various viewpoints.
