$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('threadbear', 'N')ot loonie at all, POAlex. But Satan? Maybe, maybe not. Hard to say.

Satan exists, but mostly in the minds of crazy people. Unfortunately there are a lot of crazy people in the world - and many of them have a very strong imagination.

Interesting point, yea. I can probably point at about 3 people from my past that seemed to suddenly gain un-natural 'occult' strength & charisma. I mean more than could be gained from the normal path of meditation & so-forth.

I would hesitate to accuse anyone of being in league with 'dark powers' but I was uncertain in each case, yes - there was either finincial gain or some sort of personal cudos in each of these of these people. One I did try to warn personally as I felt there was something very wrong but somehow circumstances conspired against.

Within a couple of years of each 'rise' each one was smashed apart by (in each case) a combination of mental illness & ill-strokes of fate. It seems as if those people that choose to go up with the rocket also have to come down with the stick - or at least that is my opinion.

Yep, Many people "cut a deal" not knowing what they're dealing with, or even being entirely conscious of doing so. It always ends badly from what I've seen. And yes, critical powers of reason are the first thing to go. But, that's true of ego aggrandizement, whatever the cause. This is what turns me off so much about people who practice chaos magic or black magic. First, they may be catering to the most fantasy prone parts of their nature. Secondly, if that isn't the case, they're catering to the most power hungry aspects. Either way, it utterly creeps me out. As someone who ended up in this realm, quite by accident, for a short time, it beggars belief that anyone would choose it.

The invocation of "Crazy" is simply a mantra that induces calm in the masses of people who are differently crazied.

JPL, thanks for that, I'll take a look.

Greenworm, here's my best shot to answer your question about the fallen angels and the Bible sections.

May the Lord forgive me for minimizing His Word but if I could humbly break it into key parts, here they are.

1) The Creation - a perfect world with no death, no sin, no suffering and no sorrow. Mankind had intimacy with God.

2) The Separation - when man broke God's only commandment in the Garden, it caused a separation, spiritual death to mankind, and a corrupted world, separated from God. Also, Satan (out of pride and envy of God - Isaiah 14:12-14) rebelled with his angels (Revelation 12:9) and as a result, they currently rule this world as deceivers. God promises a redeemer would come and the penalty for sin is death. Satan and his angels knew God intimiately so they have no second chance, whereas God loves us and knows we are separated. Thankfully, He has given us a grace period even though we are sinners.

3) The Promise - God choses a people (the Israelites) to inherit the promised land but their rebellion and disobedience leads to them ultimately rejecting their true Messiah, Jesus. God then allows the Gentiles to be a part of the promise through Jesus. The sacrificial system, the freedom from captivity in Egypt, the Passover, the forty years in the desert, the bronze serpent in the desert, the water and the rock, Abraham/Isaac etc. The whole Old Testament is a foreshadowing of Jesus Christ and the seriousness of sin to our Holy God.

4) The Saviour - Jesus Christ, being Word of God made flesh, humbles Himself, comes into the world, lives a sinless life, and dies to pay our fine on the cross. He rises from the dead and defeats death. He now sits at the right hand of God the Father.

5) The Offer - The Gospel (Good News) is that God offers a full pardon to all who repent and trust in Jesus for salvation. That's God's mechanism to save people from the penalty He must bring down upon their sins. The New Testament explains how Christians should live, fight the spiritual battles we face in this world, and share the Good News with others as all who die in sin with face God's eternal wrath.

6) The Restoration - Jesus will return after a horrible final seven years to this world. Revelation 13 says Satan and the Beast (Antichrist) will be worshipped by the whole world. Imagine the wicked deception behind this. God will then pour out His wrath on this final rebellion and a New Heavens and New Earth await all who are redeemed with Christ. Jesus, being God with us will rule forever. Death will be no more, animals will no longer kill each other, sin will be gone and it will never end.

As for Satan, he's very real but to no surprise this is probably what the majority of the world thinks of Satan.

Nothing could be farther from the truth. Google Sanat Kumara or the Ascended Masters for one of his wicked deceptions.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('POAlex', 'A')s a planet, we are now supposedly facing global warming, peak oil, nuclear terrorism and other cataclysmic problems. Many people don't hold a very promising view of our future. I'm no prophet, but friends, if this article is anywhere accurate as to what's coming, you need be concerned.

Alex

Persons have to keep from going mad by biting off small pieces of reality which they can get some command over and some satisfaction from. This means that their noblest passions are played out in the narrowest and most unreflective ways, and this is what undoes them. From this point of view the main problem for human beings has to be expressed in the following paradox; Men and women must have a fetish in order to survive and to have ‘normal mental health.’ But this shrinkage of vision that permits them to survive also at the same time prevents them from having the overall understanding they need to plan for and control the effects of their shrinkage of experience. A paradox this bitter sends a chill through all reflective people. “Self-knowledge is the hardest human task because it risks revealing to persons how their self-esteem was built; on the powers of others in order to deny their own death.” “Life imagines its own significance and strains to justify its beliefs. It is as though the life force itself needed illusion in order to further itself. Logically, then, the ideal creativity for humans would strain toward the ‘grandest illusion.
