Stop filling dumpsters, as much as you possibly can, and everything will get better.

Just think it through.
It's not hard to do.

Thanks Aaron, I think ;) Does this mean only those on the allowed list can see this forum, or does it mean everyone can see it but only the allowed persons can post messages here?

I have not checked this forum in way too long.

I think perhaps it's because all my time get's eaten up simply surviving the near term effects of peak oil rather than planning for it. I shall have to reverse that unfortunate truth, because it makes me less prepared.

Thanks Aaron, and congrats on the upcoming upheaval of your life and pending sleepless future (child).

I gotta say after studying this and hanging out here for 4 years I'm not feeling any better about mitigation....

I went and saw Dr. Hirsch speak in person. Hes still cautiously optimistic but becoming more doomeristic. His main point this time was (don't worry, by 2050 everything will be fine, but its really going to suck getting there) - and he stressed that would be the case if we started Manhattan project style balls to the wall mitigation RIGHT NOW.

My pleasure & thanks for the sentiment.

As far as the Hirsch bttw solution.

Like that's gonna happen.

Dunno why but pointing out to KTH what a drop in the bucket the EVs powered by solar panels at his workplace are really stung. Guess I've been hanging out here too much, where people actually deal in facts and figures. I need to deal with the public, with reality, with solid concrete denial and fantasy! Believe me, it's a lot more motivational at this stage.
KTH/RGR in action.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('KilltheHumanzRulz', 'I') already told Tony, there are electric cars running around where I work, and acres of solar panels to power them. I don't know where YOU live but I suggest you tell TPTB to get a move on, some of us have already figured this out.

Aaron, please consider changing the wording that describes the Expert Forum from

A private forum for our "expert" members to use without interruption from less serious posters.

to simply A private forum for our "expert" members

The problem with the description as it now stands is that it unintendedly creates two classes of members, experts and those who are less serious and who have a proclivity for interrupting the serious ones. You or whoever wrote this description didn't intend it to mean that, but that's the impression the words may create in the minds of some readers, including very serious members who haven't received the "expert" honor. So, without needing to, the description may "put them down."

This is a classic editorial case of how less can be more.
"Actually, humans died out long ago."
---Abused, abandoned hunting dog

"Things have entered a stage where the only change that is possible is for things to get worse."
---I & my bro.

My ratio of serious to frivolous posts is probably about 35:65. But then again, I'm serious about my frivolous posts. Hi fellow experts. :)

Hey ya PMS,

Met my quota for the week with that Nazi flag. Finally put Raphagolem back on Ignore, he truly is a TV set tuned to a station that's off the air...white noise, you know. Trying to make myself understood here!

Forget his own forum, he should set up shop at Metaphysics and Mysticism - Hip Forums or the like.

Maybe he does...frightening thought.

How about a thread asking what exactly his raps have to do with energy depletion? I sincerely tried once, and boy, if I could only have those 12 minutes back...
