$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')f you're into music, sing. At the very least, experience someone you know singing. It doesn't have to be great.
It does need to be great. That's the whole point. The Chargers beating the Colts was great. It's sure got San Diego singing.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('smallpoxgirl', '
')If you're into sports, play them. Or at least go to a local high school game.

Sitting on your sofa watching a bunch of whiny, criminals get paid millions of dollars to run around with a ball? It's just inane.

I hate professional sports and I agree with you, it's all just a bunch of hype. It's just another thing to keep te sheeple of the world busy, so they don't think about things that really matter. Who cares about peak oil, when you can watch a bunch of overpaid thugs run aroud in tights wile throwing balls at eachother.

And then if you're a man and you tell someone you dislike watching sports, they'll call you unmanly or gay. Yeah, I must be gay just because I don't wanna watch a bunch sweaty steroid junkies play some pointless game. Meanwhile those assholes jerk off to sportscenter. I don't understand these people who memorize every little useless detail and statistic. Pathetic.

It is just a game after all. But it's got that territoriality thing going for it. Some are thugs, but some are fine characters. That's not the point though. Athleticism, talent and competition are the point. Things that have been valued for thousands of years.

Says Chargers President A. J. Smith, "We are potentially going against the greatest team of all time." That's pretty cagey. "Potentially." heh heh.

I would love to see San Diego beat the Pats, but doubt it will happen. I think it will be NE and the Pack in the superbowl, with NE winning it. Favre will retire then.

The whole season i didn't watch a complete game. Usually i like to watch the 4th quarter or even the last few minutes. I get SO SICK Of the advertising and all the commercial breaks trying to sell me a Toyota, Ford or Chevy TRUCK.

I like football because its got some excitement and the players actually have to do something for their millions (baseball,NBA rap stars).
lawns should be outlawed.

Don't count the Chargers out. I'm sure the Pats aren't. That's one gutsy team.

I knew you were a skins fan ChuckM, I remember seeing some hideous jersey as your avatar at one point , that's OK , I'll try not to let it color my perception of what you write here. Hubbert , football and all other visual entertainment goes way beyond a clinical analysis of what's happening , who's doing it, what it means in a larger context, etc. There is something that happens in a person's brain on a molecular level , (seratonin , endorphins) when someone sees or hears or smells something that the sensory part of your brain finds pleasing or interesting. My wife HATES sports yet she practically wets her pants watching a bunch of people dressed in cat costumes cavorting around on stage singing about cat stuff , go figure! She tries to make me watch her tape of the nutcracker every x-mas , I can deal with Tchaykofski's ?( I know that's not right) music , I actually like it , but watching the ballet is painful to me. It comes down to different strokes and all that in the end.
Perhaps the population would be less swayed to socialism if we had fewer examples of socialism from our "Free Market Capitalists". -----fiddler dave

Sorry, but I'm really pulling for the Pats and Packers this weekend. I don't want Brady to go down to "just" LT and Rivers. I want them to go 18-0, reach the SB and then lose to Favre who plays the game of his life, retires shortly afterwards and just dumps on Brady's career while riding off into the sunset. Is there a better finale to a magnificent career than beating the "best" team ever?

But I'd rather that the Pats lose this week than win it all.

The Pats better watch out. Never mind LT The Bolts have Darren Sproles and he is constantly making unbelievable plays. That kid is as fast. rapid and saavy as it gets. The Pats better not be making any assumptions.

I agree 100% with this...as much as I can't stand Favre he'll get a lifetime pass if he pulls this off.

Favre already has a lifetime pass. He has pretty much all the quarterback records possible.

If Rivers and Gates were 100%, the bolts would have a chance. I think Merriman has the flu too. The friggen Pats get every break known to man. The tuck rule in 01, mauling the rams receivers in the 2001 sb, Vineteri kicking a 45 yards in the snow. etc.

So the Patriots go to the Superbowl. The Chargers gave them a run for it with their number one receiver and number one record breaking running back out and a quarterback with two bad knees. One thing about Tomlinson to consider is that he is terrific in the red zone. Get him close and he gets in, he's done it over and over. Rivers got them down there, so who knows how many of those 4 field goals would have been tds if they had him. I'm glad to see Junior Seau get his shot at the ring.

P, your boys fought hard. You should be proud. If they were healthy, they could have won that game. They had multiple chances in the red zone and couldn't convert. Norv also got too conservative. That punt on the NE 40 with 8 minutes left was stupid.

Thanks guys, I was proud of their performance. Rivers is going to need some serious off-season surgery and rehab it turns out. I think he got some National respect with that performance in that condition. And yes, there will be a lot of second guessing about that 8 minute punt. I can see them punting with a one score lead, but not two.
