$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Pixie', 'T')his isn't a serious vote, but:

Plot summary for
Firebird 2015 AD (1981)

In one of many unpopular and unsupported policy decisions, the US government of the near future outlaws vehicle petrol in an effort to curb the overuse of limited natural resources - except, of course, for official purposes. There are many renegades who oppose the authorities, and will stop at nothing to allow themselves the freedom of burning around the countryside.

This is the plot of "threads"

All stores and malls and warehouses are locked down to the officials to use, everyone else non-official is caught, tried and shot for looting. Soon a slowly dissolving and disappearing population with a few upper level people living on canned food.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Shannymara', 'M')y husband is re-reading the Gulag Archipelago books right now. I haven't been able to make myself read them yet. :cry:

Warm up with One Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich. In fact, every peak oiler should read it, just to make sure they keep a little perspective.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('basil_hayden', '[')url=http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072856/]They were only 50 years off...[/url]

The only DVD I own.

Basil, that's either very funny (if you are joking) or very sad (if you aren't).
That was a classic, though. Any movie with David Carradine and Sly Stallone is apocalyptic in its own right. :P

I might also add that was directed by Roger Corman. A notorious tightwad and recycler of props. Skills like that will gain virtue in the future.

What's sad about it - 1) that I own only one DVD (or at least paid money for), 2) that this is the one DVD I own (I had to buy it to preserve it for posterity), or 3) that I think it's highly probable we'll be putting a few drivers into cult leader status and televise the demise of the last few Baby Boomers and the short-bussers from my X-generation (more points for the elderly!)?

JHC, we already do that short of running over people with walkers - it's called Nascar. 43 years from now, I hope they have enough liquid fuel for televised stock car races!

I guess sad that if you only have one DVD it is that particular movie.
But I don't mean to judge, so if that's the case, enjoy it. :)
