We made the bet over peakspeak a short while ago, and I figured I'd document the moment here so I don't forget. I have the nasty habit of forgetting things, so here it is in writing.

I don't recall holding TJC to payment if the price of WTI does climb above $200, but I do certainly remember saying that if the price does not climb to that number then I will pay out $100.

It was WTI, wasn't it? I don't think you'd have taken the bet if it was Brent.

You never know, North Dakota may have one big surprise to pull out of its ass at the last minute, so I could be wrong. I don't know which way it's going to go.

In any case, that's the bet. Tyler, can you weigh in and let me know whether you recall specifically saying that you owe me $100 if WTI goes over $200 (closing price) on any single day in 2008? I don't remember whether we specified that condition.

Also, I'd like to give TJC the option of taking his $100 in silver at today's price of $15.30 an ounce, as long as he would agree to pay me the same way.

I think a safer bet would have been that the DOW will be under 10,000. It is possible if things rapidly spin out of control somewhere (like the Saudi's get hit at one of their fields by the 'terrorists'), but I don't see a sustained price anywhere near that. Maybe 130 if 'business as usual' continues...

BTW, I don't want any offers on the bet (Price of the DOW). I don't have anything to bet except some beets and turnips.

I can see 200.00 if something serious happens in mideast , business as usual and we're probably 130.00-150.00 , I think DOW 10,000 is not only possible but probable , hell , I wouldn't be shocked to see DOW 10,000 by the end of FEB.
