American expats abroad used to receive compensation in U.S. dollars all around the world. Now many companies are offering American expats compensation in other currencies. I earn Hong Kong dollars, but I have to convert some of my earnings to U.S. dollars to pay back student loans. They don't want my HK dollars, fools.
