A hundred pages on that site. Only one on the basic important question.. where the heck are we going to be getting hydrogen from? Remember, hydrogen is just a way to store energy, not a energy-rich substance we find laying around. We have to make it.

http://www.hydrogencarsnow.com/hydrogen ... olysis.htm

Oddly, the picture in the middle has the mysterious acronym HTGR. The page doesn't bother to explain that HTGR is a High Temperature Gas (nuclear) Reactor. Dirty word, I guess. The 'N' word doesn't even make the acronym. Nuclear is probably in the direction we're going, but it seems odd that they link the image and don't explain it. Nor does it appear to have any input arrows (Uranium is the input).

Simple physics shows that hydrogen has a much, much lower energy density than hydrocarbons. I guess, though, I'd rather have to fill up on hydrogen every 30 miles than wait a couple hours for a battery to recharge. The low energy density is a bigger problem for air travel. If the tech keeps improving and platinum-group-metals (for fuel cells) get a little easier to refine, that's the most hopeful answer we've got, though, so better hope it happens.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Greenshine', 'I') don't believe in peak oil

Do you believe in gravity?

Peak oil is not something you "believe in" like Santa Claus, or the Easter Bunny. The United States reached peak oil in 1970. Many other countries, regions and oil fields have followed suit. That's history now.

So when you say "I don't believe in peak oil," what you are saying is "I'm going to stay in denial for now." That's fine, many people are in denial, but don't fool yourself in to thinking peak oil is something you can opt in or out of.

The world, IE Earth, Is finite. Is has a limited amount of matter; in fact, it is slowly losing matter as very light elements such as hydrogen and helium slowly seep into space at the edge of our atmosphere. Therefore everything on earth is finite. I don't need a source, just a tidbit of knowledge and some simple logic.

Now finite in practical terms is another thing, but I'm not going to debate you on the fact that oil is a finite resource; it's an accepted fact, so if you want to dispute it, you should be the one providing proof that oil is not finite.

Given that it is finite, and being extracted at a non-linear rate, than a statistics 101 course will tell you that the probability of it having a peak is 1. Since it would be impossible to extract oil at a linear rate, it is obvious that this is the case.

Welcome to peak oil. If you want to dispute when, or how bad said peak will be, I will be glad to join in. But disputing the fact that oil has, is, or will inevitably peak, is really a waste of everybody's time.

Secondly, keep in mind that peak oil does not mean a peak in the amount of oil. It means a peak in the rate of production. This seems to be an error you make in your optimistic ideas of 'lots of oil down there.' Sure, even if there is 20 trillion barrels, it sure aint gonna be easy to get, and production will still fall.
Belief is not required.

Oh, dear.....
Do I hear something religious coming?
Greenshine, you have one point in your favor-you are looking into-no matter how shallowly-the decline of the world's obtainable oil supply.
You are losing points by believing the industry's blinding rays of sunshine.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Greenshine', '

Nor are you to make any of yours. Don't be a hypocrite just to avoid discourse.
