Communist Party review of Crude Awakening. At least one political party in the USA is getting onboard with spreading the word about peak oil.

As usual, the others will eventually follow.

I am always amazed that that movie is still being advertized as if it just came out.

Yeah, it's certainly popping up all over the place... but we have yet to see a major political party in the USA talking about energy policy and peak oil in terms placing the blame on the simple fact we've probably passed the peak in oil production.

The Democratic Party mentions on it's website the need to get the USA less dependent on foreign oil... ha! .... give me a break. Like that's going to happen.

The Republican Party calls for us all to embrace the President's energy initiative. How painfully ridiculous.

Even the Green Party strangely taps around the issue but misses it, instead calling for the elimination of petroleum powered personal vehicles.

At some point a party will step up and move on this. Hopefully soon.

I'm serious. It was in Detroit. It was about $20. It's even on their website... here's the link.

I'd not call the Communists a major party in the USA. They're splintered into several factions too.

However, the BNP in Britain is PO-aware, and the nazi.org folks in the US are. Plus the greens, various small groups on the right, left, and just plain out there, in the US.

ILP,

... of course with a few thousand members they're among the smallest political parties going in the USA. It's always been like that.

The point is that the major parties need to get up to speed on this one. One will eventually. The two majors are so indistinguishable it's impossible to guess which one will be the first.

Apparently a few smaller ones are speaking up. The BNP pops up on my google alerts all the time. This was the first left party in the USA taking an interest... at least that I've noticed.

The Bolsheviks were all murdered By Stalin, EB. My hunch is that it was inevitable. There are no answers, no systems. Communism, Capitalism, it's all a wash, futile. Maybe Feudalism will work again. Then again, perhaps that won't work either. Hunter/Gatherer probably won't work either. Nukes will work though.

So which one are you, Mike Wallace or Morley Safer? Steve Croft, perhaps? Andy Rooney? I won't go down the Lesley Stahl road. Wait a minute, I just did. Then there's Barbara Wawa.
