What other online communities are you a part of?

Just curious as to the other areas of interest (whether of dire importance or frivolous) the peakoil.com members have.

none really nowadays, though I'm a member of a bunch of others. Simcity 4 forums I sometimes still check, I like the positive atmosphere on those...

None anymore. A few years ago I was in a few motorcycle- related sites, but they booted me (mostly) for ranting too much about peak oil and ecology issues.

On one site the managers told me to quit writing things about oil depletion because they were tired of reading my rants. Then, on a thread about the thrills and joys of off-road motorcycling in desert areas, I correctly pointed out that in a truly healthy society anyone intentionally destroying fragile desert flora and fauna by off-road motorcycling should be sent to a desert re-education labor camp for a few years.

Well, to my complete surprise, some people apparently took offense at that for some reason and the next thing you know people are posting all sorts of unkind things. This went on for awhile and... well, I don't enter squabbles, as most here know, so I have no idea what was posted after a few days because I could no longer log on.

I don't have any time for other forums. There is too much else to do in life.

I'm already addicted to this site. In fact, I may need an intervention.

Just kidding about the addiction thing, truthfully.

Honestly I'm just lazy when it comes to tapping away at this keyboard. I can't imagine having 10000 posts here!

I'm an IT worker so I have an opportunity to check in occasionally.

Truthfully, I just don't have much of an interest in things outside of homesteading, guitar playing and my family.

There is so much to living independently that you don't need hobbies. You can just combine 10 people's hobbies and call it homesteading.

If I could find a homesteading site that had this much activity, I'd probabaly be over there instead. Trouble is, real homesteaders are out working and are too busy to be pecking away on the keyboard.

I belong to a few writers' forums but I mostly go to just one. I also belong to a couple of gamer forums, and a forum dealing with US history.

Yea I got here from some way right side sites – bounced off some way left sites and got mired for a minute in some “homestead” sites where the talk is mostly about what breed of wool sweater one should clothe their AKC registered LGD in to keep it warm on the couch.

Then you folks populated PFTF…

None. PO.com is "one-stop shopping" for me. I can't imagine wasting the time I waste here anywhere else.

Used to hang at a music forum but nothing's happening anymore content-wise. I did have a good time mocking air cars in the political forum there though.

Read TOD every day too of course.

I occasionally post but view daily at excwinsider.com. It's a web site for Countrywide employees who got axed. There are a lot a angry former employees who freely air Countrywides' dirty laundry.

I'm ashamed to say I am hooked on the High Drama.
