Hi vampyregirl,

Welcome aboard, I am quite new as well to this site. There are several of us in the Oil and Gas industry that read these forums looking for more information as well. If your job description is energy analyst be prepared to do your own research to augment anything you find on the internet. :)

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('vampyregirl', 'i') work for shell canada, am studying to become an energy analyst and i am interested in participating in this forum and learning. thank you
Welcome!

There certainly are other people in the oil industry here, so this isn't a bad place to hang out and bounce different ideas around. By the way, what lead you here? There are other resources like "theoildrum.com", though personally I think this site is a little more chat friendly.

Also what research regarding peak oil have you done so far and what areas do you want to focus more on? Your goal is to "become an energy analyst". I'm wondering what that means to you. Do you have experience as an analyst or researcher in any other endeavors? Is your interest for personal edification and advancement or are you also looking to create a presence on the internet that you can reference to? Examples or people who have created an internet presence might be MattSavinar and MonteQuest.

How do you hope to use what you learn? For good or evil, what situation are you trying to create for yourself? Are you looking for information that will help you choose the right company to work for? Looking to find a position in an advisory role? Looking to learn denial tactics for evil PR purposes? (Knowing the facts is necessary to properly distort them.) Or perhaps you just want to have authoritative inside information that distinguishes you from other employees? Or D. all of the above?

Well answering these questions is optional, you're still welcome here if you don't.
I'm here for the popcorn...

for starters i choose this user name because i like vampyre stuff. dont worry i wont bite you in the neck. i found this site by accident and decided to check it out. i decided i want to be an analyst because i am very much interested in the geopolitics of the energy field. yes i would like to have an advisory position.
i am interested in any info or theories on alternative energy sources. my personal opinion i think wind and solar will be exploited but results will be disappointing. i dont think you could run america or even canada or wind and solar power. but if im wrong let me know. im open to your ideas. i look forward to contributing to this site, maybe i can tell you something you dont already know and maybe you all can teach me a few things

Hello

Postby Jman1236 » Thu 20 Dec 2007, 20:03:31

Hi, the name is Jman1236, I'm a big time video gamer, I have all three of the next gen consoles and I'm also fully aware of the problems that we face when it comes to Peak Oil.

I first learned of peak oil from the website Exitmundi around 2004/2005 and I have been very conserned since, not a day goes by when I don't think about how much energy we use in our daily lives and how much get wasted.

I've been I regular vistor to the site and I figure I want to add my two cents into the big peak oil topics posted here.

Hey Narz,
Ever read the Code of Conduct here?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'U')nsolicited advertisements: This includes offering goods, services, employment (except within the Jobs forum), or soliciting donations. This also includes advertising for a website. If you have something to sell, please contact an administrator and buy a banner.

Messages devoid of content: This includes posts with nonsense characters (ie. flksdhf). This also includes posts with a single word or only containing emoticons. This includes posts on "why was my post deleted", off-topic posts, threadjacking, complaining about links, unedited reposts, repeated mod evasion, and trolling.

Nice way to welcome a new member.

Anyhow, welcome Rambler. Most people here are despicable, angst-ridden misfits who might have an opinion or two. Once you get past that, there's a lot to glean.

My signature is hardly hurting anyone. Alot of people have links to their websites (often websites selling stuff) in their sigs. I'm hardly a drive-by spammer (look at my posts). Feel free to complain to Aaron if you're offended though. If he asks me to alter or remove my sig I will do it.

As to my post in this thread I was merely echoing Bas's sentiments (a exact quote w/ no additional message is a way of doing this w/o retyping the exact same thing).

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('SchroedingersCat', 'N')ice way to welcome a new member.

Better than bitching & moaning in the poor fellow's original thread & then warning him that most people are even worse than you.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('raober', 'I') actually *know* a Dr. Bang...that's his last name. My wife always refers to him as "the porn star." :)

Lots to discover here...I am learning that myself.
I had a "Dr. Love" in College who taught intergroup dynamics with a focus on empathy and understanding...

Alright Eochaidh, your new pledge name is "Flounder".
