Ok, I've got to add one more. This one's called "Afghan Forklift" by Stan Ridgeway. I think he wrote it after 9/11:

"Ringin' on the telephone, pick it up and say
What's a man to do with all the trouble 'round today?
Heard it takes a worried man to sing a worried song
Sing it now, but Lord, don't let it all go on too long
Chorus:
Somethin' in the air, and it's movin' like a southbound train
Sun is goin' down, and it seems like I'll be the same

World keeps spinnin' 'round, people say there's debt to pay
I don't know––too busy with my life from day to day
But whosoever journeys up against that border line
The shadows of an ancient flame burn away in time

I was down in Arkansas, workin' graveyard shift
Movin' crates for exportation with a big forklift
Most were crackers, Coca-Cola, shoes and ceiling fans
Two were marked Top Secret, headed for Afghanistan

Chorus repeat

See shadows on the sun, see a comin' thundercloud
Nothin' will persuade, but all will be allowed
And some will seek their god from a heaven in the sky
Defendin' their affliction with a holy alibi

Ringin' on the telephone, pick it up and say
What's a man to do with all the trouble 'round today?
I'm callin' up the president, ask him what he say
No answer, left a message, when he's back from holiday

Chorus repeat

Now the drums are poundin', hear them blowin' on the horn
Two hands are on the hammer, and the fabric has been torn
Dam's about to burst, floods are all around
No more water, little Sylvie, 'cause I think I'm gonna drown

Ringin' on the telephone, pick it up and say
What's a man to do with all the trouble 'round today?
Heard it takes a worried man to sing a worried song
Sing it now, but Lord, don't make it all go on too long
All go on too long"

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'P')ariah dogs and wandering madmen
Barking at strangers and speaking in tongues
The ebb and flow of tidal fortune
Electrical changes are charging up the young

It’s a far cry from the world we thought we’d inherit
It’s a far cry from the way we thought we’d share it

You can almost feel the current flowing
You can almost see the circuits blowing

One day I feel I’m on top of the world
And the next it’s falling in on me
I can get back on
I can get back on

One day I Feel I’m ahead of the wheel
And the next it’s rolling over me
I can get back on
I can get back on

Whirlwind life of faith and betrayal
Rise in anger, fall back and repeat
Slow degrees on the dark horizon
Full moon rising, lays silver at your feet

It’s a far cry from the world we thought we’d inherit
It’s a far cry from the way we thought we’d share it
You can almost feel the current flowing
You can almost see the circuits blowing

One day I feel I’m on top of the world
And the next it’s falling in on me
I can get back on
I can get back on

One day I Feel I’m ahead of the wheel
And the next it’s rolling over me
I can get back on
I can get back on

It’s a far cry from the world we thought we’d inherit
You can almost see the circle growing
You can almost feel the planets glowing

One day I feel I’m on top of the world
And the next it’s falling in on me
I can get back on
I can get back on

One day I Feel I’m ahead of the wheel
And the next it’s rolling over me
I can get back on
I can get back on

One day I fly through a crack in the sky
And the next it’s falling in on me
I can get back on
I can get back on

Oh oh oh I can get back on I can get back on

The new Rush album is pretty damn good!

I don't know the exact lyrics to this song, so a couple of words are missing,
but it's a great song called Dove Tongued Aggressor by Spirit Caravan:

The words are counted, not weighed
I don't believe in much you say
The face of ... spews out lies
They've got no ears to hear your cries

Go build yourself a prison baby
We'll become a prison today, hey today.

The wealth of greed stretches far
they even think they own the stars.
You pay to live, to live you toil
but will they feed their children oil?

Go build yourself a prison baby
We'll become a prison today

What they say, you don't listen... someday

Children of light they know the score.
The newborn child knows not war.
The tongue is -- and it's no surprise
They've got no ears to hear our cries

Go build yourself a prison baby
We'll become a prison today
Just do what you want to babe
they're building us a prison today

Some of the music I've been listening to lately that give me a PO like vibe

Tool - Schism
I know the pieces fit cuz I watched them tumble down
No fault, none to blame it doesnt mean I dont desire to
Point the finger, blame the other, watch the temple topple over.
To bring the pieces back together, rediscover communication.

A Perfect Circle - Let's Have A War
Let's have a war;
Jack up the Dow Jones.
Let's have a war;
It can start in New Jersey.
Let's have a war;
Blame it on the middle-class.
Let's have a war;
We're like rats in a cage.

Metallica - No Leaf Clover
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
Was just a freight train coming your way
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
Was just a freight train coming your way
It's coming your way
It's coming your way
Here it comes

Rage Against The Machine - Take The Power Back
So called facts are fraud
They want us to allege and pledge
And bow down to their God
Lost the culture, the culture lost
Spun our minds and through time
Ignorance has taken over
Yo, we gotta take the power back!
Bam! Here's the plan
Motherfuck Uncle Sam
Step back, I know who I am
Raise up your ear, I'll drop the style and clear
It's the beats and the lyrics they fear
The rage is relentless
We need a movement with a quickness
You are the witness of change
And to counteract
We gotta take the power back

And for the sake of an epic ending...
Kamelot - The Mourning After
I just had a dream
She was by the riverside
Alone and dressed in white
Paling in the cold
Walking on the icey face
On memories of glory days

Hmmm...

DEAF FOREVER, by Motorhead

Stoneface dog, swirling fog, gates open on the dark dark night
Standing stone, skull and bone, dead witness to an unseen fight
Beat the drum, beat the drum, beat forever on the endless march
Stricken dumb, Cut and run, someone is screaming and the sky is dark

Sword and shield, bone and steel, rictus grin
Deaf forever to the battles din

March or croak, flame and smoke, burn forever in eternal pain
Charge and fall, bugle call, bone splinter in the driving rain
Horses scream, Viking dream, drowned heroes in a lake of blood
Armoured fist, severed wrist, broken spears in a sea of mud

Sword and shield, bone and steel, rictus grin
Deaf forever to the battles din

Mother earth, mother earth enfold you in her cold embrace
Sinking down, killing ground, worm crawling on your cold white face
Win or lose, nought to choose, all men are equal when their memory fades
No one knows, friends or foes, if Valhalla lies beyond the grave

Sword and shield, bone and steel, rictus grin
Deaf forever to the battles din
Deaf forever to the battles din
Deaf forever to the battles din

Stone deaf forever...
"It means buckle your seatbelt, Dorothy, because Kansas? Is goin' bye-bye... "

Kinks - Gallon of Gas

I've been waiting for years to buy a brand new cadillac
But now that I've got one I want to send it right back
I can't afford the gas to fill my luxury limousine
But even if I had the dough no one's got no gasoline

I went to my local dealer to see if he could set me straight
He said there's a little gas going but I'd have to wait
But he offered some red hot speed and some really high grade hash
But a gallon of gas can't be purchased anywhere for any amount of cash

I can score you some coke and some grade one grass
But I can't get a gallon of gas
I've got some downers some speed all the drugs that you need
But I can't get a gallon of gas
There's no more left to buy or sell
There's no more oil left in the well
A gallon of gas can't be purchased anywhere
For any amount of cash

I love your body-work, but you're really no use
How can I drive you when I got no juice?
Because it's stuck in neutral and my engine's got no speed
And the highways are deserted
and the air smells unnaturally clean.

It's got power-assisted overdrive and carpets on the floor,
but it's parked out front just like a dead dinosaur.
And I'll be paying off the bank for 45 years or more.
It should go 100 miles an hour,
but it's never moved away from my door.

Who needs a car and a seven-forty-seven
When you can't buy a gallon of gas
Who needs a highway, an airport or a jet
When you can't get a gallon of gas
There's no more left to buy or sell
There's no more oil left in the well
A gallon of gas can't be purchased anywhere
For any amount of cash
You can't buy a gallon of gas

Brian Eno: An Ending (Ascent)

Not necessarily what you'd connect with PO at first, but this beautiful tune gives a musical expression for the ending of the cacophonic industrial era, and hopefully, for the survivors' ascent from the ashes to a more modest and traditional life.

Modest Mouse - Shit Luck

This boat is obviously sinking
This building's totally burning down
And my, and my (a whole bunch)
And my heart has slowly dried up
