$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'M')ANY OF YOU HAVE COMMENTED THAT IT WOULD BE A BETTER IDEA TO BOYCOTT ONE OR TWO PARTICULAR OIL COMPANIES. ALTHOUGH THIS GROUP DOES PROVE HOW STRONGLY THE PUBLIC FEEL ABOUT THE HIGH FUEL COSTS I AGREE THAT IT WILL NOT MAKE A MAJOR DIFFERENCE TO THE OIL COMPANIES PROFITS. IT IS VERY OBVIOUS THAT BP IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE, THEREFORE WE SHOULD BOYCOTT ALL BP PETROL STATIONS. IF CUSTOMERS STOP USING BP THEY WILL BE FORCED TO DROP THEIR PRICES, THIS WILL DRIVE COMPETITION AMONGST THE OTHER COMPANIES AND THEREFORE LEAD TO CHEAPER PRICES AT THE PUMP. THIS CAN WORK BUT ONLY IF WE ALL BOYCOTT BP FROM NOW UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES.

Now that the price of petrol in the UK has passed the "historic" one pound a litre mark people are up in arms.

So what do you do??

Arrange a No Fuel Day and threaten to boycott BP because their prices are apparently higher than everyone elses.

What they're actually failing to grasp is the fact that out of every pound, 65p goes to the government in tax.

There is also no mention of the current oil supply/demand situation in any context whatsoever.

HELLO PEOPLE. WAKE UP. :? :-x

This facebook group now has over 130,000 members.

How many of them of them do you think will actually stop and get petrol on that day because the alternative is just too much to bear.

British are complaining, What happened to "we pay 8 bucks here and are happy because we got health care" they love to spout out when a Yank grumbles?

I have yet to hear anyone complain, so I don't know where these people came from. Maybe they're mostly white van men.

I think you people are too harsh, i mean there are more important things in life, like, the Iphone is out! and the Spice Girls are reunited again!!!:)

Question:

When have the masses EVER gotten it?

The people of Burma (Myanmar) are some of the world's most oppressed individuals.

The tyranny of the military junta that rules over these people is absolutely atrocious.

And yet when the time came for revolution, how many rose up against the oppressors?

There was a clear good versus evil battle and yet most people sat on the sidelines.

That's not to say they didn't care. I'll bet most of them did care deeply about the issues at hand. However, most people were too focused on their day to day survival. Again, that does not mean that they are bad people.

It's the same situation in EVERY SINGLE NATION IN HUMAN HISTORY.

When Churchill said in 1940 about the RAF, "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few." he revealed something about human beings in general.

World history is shaped by the actions of a few good men and women against the forces of evil. Fighting the good fight is rarely easy but it's something you do because you know that it's right.

I know this has devolved into a rant but I can't help it. This stuff needs to be said.

The masses are dumb, get over it. If you want to create change in the world, do it yourself. Be a leader in your community. Spread the word about energy depletion and encourage others round you to pick up the banner as well.

For myself, I'm a member of the Energy Security Initiative. An organization dedicated towards increasing awareness about energy issues and promoting energy conservation/efficiency. On November 30th at 4pm we will be showing the movie End Of Suburbia at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts.

It seems like, and I'm in USA, at least the people closest to me.... have been informed and refused to get it. People don't want to get it.
I really think if people really got it...they would still refuse to see it.

I get it and want to get it. I work with 30 liberal type...open minded people at our e-com operation (so VERY based on transportation and oil)....love every single one of them....but, I'm the only one that gets it and says "Hello!" to it. I am preparing for it but the rest are living like it's not there when they know it is.
There's the odds on getting it.

We have had this discussion many times before, the reason people will never get it is because PO is beyond the masses frame of reference there is no context by which the problem can be seen.

Hell, Governments don't get it, they have looked at the problem added up the numbers and come to the conclusion that "yup, were fucked". When the question comes to what are we going to do about it the answer is "hell, if I know."

The media can't get it either because they are apart of the whole system that is threatened with demise too. The media is still over all in the everything is fine and there has got to be solution phase.
