Cells as Viral Cages-

Unread postby Kylon » Fri 16 Nov 2007, 02:36:50

What if we produced a large number of cells that couldn't reproduce naturally, and required assisted reproduction.

These cells could be modified not to naturally produce DNA polyermases.

This would, in effect, make them incapable of generating viral DNA, as well as incapable of utilizing reverse transcriptase to turn RNA into DNA.

Without the capability to generate DNA, or the capability to add new DNA to create new RNA, then viruses couldn't reproduce inside these cells.

If these cells were made from a fetal stem cell line, or were made from cells that were produced before an infant reaches 15 months, then the cells could be used by ANYONE.

With this being the case, they could be mass produced, stored in Hibernation Inducement Trigger for preservation, and then shipped to clinics for people suffering from viral infections.

If the virus would attach itself to these cells, then it would act like a prison, preventing the virus from doing any more harm.

What do you think?

But even if these wonderful cells could be produced, they might sequester a certain amount of the virus but the rest would go and infect normal cells anyway, so no cure would be effected.
