Peak Oil Myths & World Oil Futures

Here's that book, now released, that'll ensure we do go over a cliff and not down a preferable slope by keeping the denial brigade (most of them) denying.
sigh.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')t is widely accepted that global discoveries of conventional oil have peaked and that the era of cheap oil has gone forever. This book demonstrates that the doom and gloom of the "Peak Oil" theory is mistaken. Clarke rebuts the arguments of Peak Oil's adherents and discusses the issues they ignore - rising crude oil prices, new or future technologies, potential improved exploration acreage and/or access to restricted world oil zones, changes in government policies, new corporate strategies, development in unconventional oils, and more.

"A brilliant insight into the world upstream, Peak Oil, international corporate strategies, geopolitics, business, economics and technology." Dr. Alfred J. Boulos, former Senior Director, International, Conoco Inc., former President of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators "Lucidly shows that not all is known on potential oil reserves-in-ground, and that Peak Oil is very wrong on its view that such reserves are now fully known and finite."

well it'll make him a millionaire before the economy collapses as peak oil denial books will outstrip peak oil advocate books. Let's all bandwagon!

We are wrong that oil is "finite"? Also, isn't this book a bit out of date, considering crude oil production is flat or in decline for a few years now.

As it should be, seeing as how discovery rates peaked, what, 40 years ago? Is this guy seriously suggesting that we're going to once again start discovering 50-60 billion barrels in a year? As far as conventional oil is concerned, 40 years worth of technology improvements have basically told us one thing: we've already found almost all of what's left.

Or perhaps he's just obfuscating, marketing his book to people who don't know any better.

Well that's just great - in 2047 people llike this guy are going to be saying "it's widely accepted that oil production rates have peaked and that the era of cheap oil is gone forever. This book, elegantly printed on deer skin with rabbit's blood, demonstrates that the doom and gloom of the "Peak Oil" theory is mistaken."

How annoying.

I agree. People will be desperately flailing around trying to find anything that will help keep them from facing up to the truth and making changes in their lives.

Nice. I'd like to see those two paragraphs combined into one and entered into a contest. Let's see how many misleading statements, weak points, and straw-man arguments attempting to debunk peak oil one can cram into a single paragraph.

I've ordered 10 copies as they may make great heating fuel some day.
