2004 board members, please check in

What's on your mind?
General interest discussions, not necessarily related to depletion.

Had to bail my affiliation with Sustainable Arizona ...?

Excellent!

Maybe I will re-registered.

Nice to see I am not alone in the banishment group...

Bravo!!

I resigned, dude. I wasn't banned.

The president banned you.

Yeah I know monte "resigned"

That's cool bro.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Shannymara', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('MonteQuest', 'H')ad to bail my affiliation with Sustainable Arizona as they don't want to kill the "cash cow" and tell people the truth. Too many of our board's interest was only in promoting their "green businesses."

That sucks, and I'm very sorry to hear it.

Well, when I mentioned "powerdown" at our last board meeting, I got met with "you mean go back to living in caves."

I wanted us to start taking a stronger position with regard to possible spot shortages of gasoline of heating oil and what people could do if that happens.

Shouted down.

Too doomer.

When will reality no longer be doomer?

When the gas lines string one mile ot two?

No, they didn't want to tell people that spot energy shortages are coming.

Well Monte the doomer talk is starting to spread into financial reports, news broadcasts, mainstream magazines...

But its still so hard to fight the inertia mentality that we can fix this instead of adapt to this...

Fight the good fight...

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'N')ice to see a lot of the old board members checking in. Appears that there are a lot of older members who just lurk now without posting much any more. Guess most things here have been hashed over 1000 times before. Not much to talk about any more except for current energy news. The peak oil argument is finished.

Spot on. Every few months you see the same treads appearing with the same arguments. I guess that is natural and it is not a bad thing as new people need to have to have the opportunity to get up to speed on a certain topic. And that works better by live discussion than by reading old treads.

But for me there are some discussions that you don't enter anymore because you have heard all the arguments and you know that after a few pages they will end in the same stalemate as they did the last few times.

July 22 '04. Wow, been a while now. Don't post so much but visit daily. We are living in interesting times. I figured a few years back that oil would crash the US econ.; what's surprising is how high it has risen and yet the econ. is still standing, although clearly out on its feet. I have been mostly cash for a year and a half now because of the upcoming financial tsunami. I do believe we are near peak, but I strongly believe that the coming downturn will drastically reduce demand and thus price.
