General interest discussions, not necessarily related to depletion.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('bobcousins', 'E')ven with the price of oil up 300% since then, nothing much has changed.

Oh? Perhaps for you.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'W')hy even bother debating the merits of die-off vs population reduction, when the best analysis of people like Stuart Staniford based on loads of actual numbers cannot even get close to predicting oil production 3 years out?

Because a die-off is coming peak oil or not.

Oil production just appears to be the #1 contender for least abundant necessity.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Ayoob', ' ')

The complete lunatics are still here. Golem, PMS (my very first ignore list member), and NEOPO I believe constitute 80%+ of the drivel on the site.

Behavior is everything.

Glad to see the idiot optimists are gone or leaving.
Glad to see more doomers.
Doomers are more of the feelers...intuition plays a role.
Idiots think about the wrong stuff and they have the intuition switch in the off position.
If we are to get out of this mess...
We must think less rationally and feel more irrationally ...

Here is more drivel.
And btw, you are still a boob Ayoob.
Behavior is everything?
Fall in line then goof...and behave yourself.
Shutup, say nothing and don't listen you chimp.

Pfffft
NEO would want me to say that...

And one thing we have not discussed on this site...and I suggest it will soon dominate the news is that Global Warming and Global Dimming is directly connected to our Electro-magnetic field that is morphing, and also playing a role are those suspicious bursts or pulsars of Blue UV rays arriving daily.
Need I say more?

Hey Aaron, some timely advice, time to shift gears and do a switch and call this forum ... the Post Peak Oil EM Forum Field of Dreams and Illusions...

Peak Oil will be the old news.
EM spectrum is what THEY and we will eventually talk about.
Where EM = energy and matter OR electro-magnetism, same thing.

EM is waves and everything is vibration.

Are you following this rant Ayoob?
Funny how you see drivel and others see inspiration and insight.
What does that say about the ewe in you ay?

Eh, Boob, beware of Greeks bearing gifts and sneaking up on ewe.
I dribble and drivel BUT ewe graze my friend...your consciousness is about to be raped.

And soon the idiot optimists will stop thinking and come to the realization that...

we cannot outrun the Electro-magnetic field that is apparently morphing...not to mention those pulsating UV rays.

We just can't outrun what we can't see...and we don't know where the safe house is....

I do Ayoob, know where the safe house is, and I can walk to it.
Still time.

My God, here is my first post from July 2004.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'H')ello,

Greetings from Ireland where we have been undergoing a massive transformation in the last 15 years due to a booming economy. From being the poorest country in Europe we have become one of the richest. Has this led to happier times for the average citizen - NO WAY.

A society that was primarily community based and agrarian has become mainly urban and self centred. Nobody I talk to want to know about peak oil and in fact think I am a left wing pinky liberal when I mention the subject.

This country has probably the best wind resources on the planet and certainly some of the most fertile land. However, we are almost 100% dependant on imported oil. The government are spending 15 billion euros on road improvements over the next 5 years. This money could probably put 50% of the grid on renewables. Nobody want to be a farmer anymore - they want to be lawyers and IT consultants. Only my wife and one or two close friends take the upcoming problem seriously. The annoying thing is that this country is ideally suited to weather the drastic changes than most if we prepared even a little. I note with interest that Colin Campbell lives in a small town about 40miles away from me. So he recognises the potential too.

I have sold our second car and invested in an electric bike that I hope to be able to charge off solar panels. During WWII Ireland remained neutral . There was no power grid and the country was self sufficient in food. In fact Great Britain relied on Irish food imports to a large extent.

The population of the country has risen from 4 to 5 million since then but we might ride it out better than most.

So.

A. How do we make more people aware?
B. How do we convince the government to invest in renewable?

WOW, I was a cornucopian. In the 3 years since I wrote this, the population has risen to 6 million, has become more dependant on oil and our health and education systems have deteriorated badly.

On the plus side, peak oil is mainstream here and most people realise that they will have to change their lives in the future but in typical Irish fashion, they are not going out without having one hell of a party first. if you are going to have a hangover, it might as well be as the result of a really, really good night.

Bullshit. No one has EVER seen insight or inspiration in your posts. Your hemp inspired hallucinations and mystic dreams of grandeur are nothing more then the psychotic ramblings of someone whos burned out and used up but trying to justify his existance.

But we've been down that road long ago havent we? New name, same old setting. The more things changes the more the stay the same I suppose.

But the hour is getting late so let us not wander that path again.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', 'M')onteQuest since we are going to die anyway, this is a great time to get my 'personal' house in order. You are great and I really appreciate having you here to chop up those cornies with you razor-sharp wit and essential facts: "Oh? Perhaps for you." All needs said.

But try to tone it down if you can, if nothing else, for the kids. They keep hearing this 'we are all going to die' meme and refuse to do their homework or clean up their room.

Oh, I think I can say it was not me that got the message "toned-up", but those in denial of reality who keep questioning the validity of known science.

How long does it take until people "get it."

And perhaps people shoild stop attacking me for being the messenger. It's not like I am spouting some radical ideological viewpoint that is up for debate.

Although I am amazed at how many think it is.

#1 reason I am pessimistic about many things.

Busy with work, in great health, and watching the snowball grow.

Had to bail my affiliation with Sustainable Arizona as they don't want to kill the "cash cow" and tell people the truth. Too many of our board's interest was only in promoting their "green businesses."

Can't speak of possible gas shortgages or rationing. Oh, no.

It's like having an investment manager who helps you with your debt situation but doesn't tell you that bankruptcy, repossession, and foreclosure are coming no matter what you do.

Can't have you stop making payments, now can we?
