Was That The Desired End?

To die from old age? I say to hell with that. Incontinence, abuse in old age homes. Not going to happen to me.

To die peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. Somewhere b/w 80-100.

Either that or in a blaze of glory defending loved ones.

I have a strong feeling the 2nd is highly overrated though.

I think modern medicine is overrated.

We keep people alive far too long and their quality of life ends up being terrible. We spend millions fighting heart disease and diabetes because we are all fat asses that don't want to walk anywhere except back to the salad bar.

Instead of expensive heart medication we should give chubzys free packs of smokes so they can be done with it and have a massive MI and be dead before they hit the floor. But no, modern medicine is so good now we just buy over sized hospital beds and will spend millions of dollars saving your fat ass, even though you think the the two cheese burger meal at MC D's is a snack.

I want to live well right up until the day I die. And if I get Alzheimer's let me walk out into traffic or better yet take me out to a field and get me talking about the rabbits we are gonna get and how I will cut alfalfa to feed them and how... Blam!

It seems only right to quote Trainspotting:

Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a big television. Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players, and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol and dental insurance. Choose fixed-interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisure wear and matching luggage. Choose a three piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing sprit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pissing you last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked-up brats you have spawned to replace yourself.

To be killed by a jealous husband when I’m 101.

To die in a hail of bullets as I fire the last of my ammo from the '60 - hopefully with a curse on my lips and fire in my eye.

martyrdom . . . as large as my ego.

for a "just cause", of course.

That seems best.

I would change age rankings to what my wife and I wrote:

When I can’t make or teach one how to do a thing.
The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves -- in their separate, and individual capacities.

Lazarus! My Hero!

Might have to read some Heinlein this weekend, just for old-time's sake.
