Just thought I'd start a thread about news sources and how reliable we find them.

In the last year I've moved from television and newspapers to more reliance on the Internet for my news. Personally I find that the most popular news sources don't cover everything of importance and do not really give an in-depth analysis that you can find on the net.

There are exceptions to this rule but they are really in the minority. Of course I can only speak from a UK point of view.

Do people find that TV and print news is overall very poor and they feel that The Net is the way forward or should we avoid it because of all the 'sources' that can claim to have news.

I haven't had cable in about 5 years. I got tired of the same F-ing thing day after day. Fear, sex and scandal. Most of it is from the same point of view. I think the days of scoops in the news are over. its all from a corporate agenda point of view.

The internet can be really good. I like news forums better though. they have people of different education and outlooks who relaly talk through the news and their ramifications. I learn more from that than I ever have in any other area, from any other resource.

they proivde me with opposing points of view, everything has links and is backed up by facts or they ignore you. but they make it so most everyone can see the different sides to each arguement and make up their own mind about the events happening in our world.
