Paul Maidment On Energy 2017
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'D')espite the advances made in energy efficiency, energy supply will continue to (barely) keep up with the rise in demand. In 10 years, nuclear and alternative fuels will still do little more than chip away at fossil fuels' dominance of world energy supplies. Efficiency gains will be mandated for cars, planes, homes and businesses by a second Kyoto treaty. Those gains will help the world to power the 60% increase in global output over the coming decade. Oil could break $120 a barrel mark in 2017, but, adjusting for inflation, it will be no more expensive than it is today and still cheaper than it was in the 1970s in real terms.
Minirefineries--The technology will be near the point where small, clean, local refining of crude will be economically viable, further weakening NIMBY opponents.
That predictions that the world will run out of oil will prove as unfounded as they were when first made a century and a half ago.
