I know what yu mean. I was pondring the issues of Peak Oil tonight (as I was making Tikka Masala from chicken that was transported 1500 miles to my grocery stoore, in a skillet powered by elecricty, with a knife with a petroleum-based plastic handle, until I cut myself and sopped up the mess with a plastic bandaid and then got back to the kitchen in time to turn the chicken with a plastic spatula). Thaat's what kills me--how many aspect s of life are dependant on oil. (sorry for typos--hard to tuype with bandaid on finger...) The acorns on my live oak are ripening. I was watching the squirrels eating them, and it occurred to me tht, in a couple of years, I may be fighting them for my share. Found myself printing off isntructions for making acorn pancakes. yeough!!!

Welcome Eochaidh

I am also relatively new. There is lots of useful info here. The debates are quite mature and provide an excellent set of simulations reqgrading what may happen and how we deal with it.

Look forward to you contributions

It's a frathouse around here! We usually go over to The Oil
Drum for maturity.

I tried anagrams on "Eochaidh". The best I can tell, you're Chad from Ohio.

"DrBang" must be an Ozzie sex-therapist?

Anway...welcome and...

Because, you see, oil is so bloody important.

Nah, I'm Matt from michigan. The state was close. Eochaidh was the name of several great high kings of ancient ireland.
Thanks for the warm welcome though!

I actually *know* a Dr. Bang...that's his last name. My wife always refers to him as "the porn star." :)

Lots to discover here...I am learning that myself.

okay - new avatar!

Nope, not married legally :)

I am in a committed relationship that feels like it, though. 8 years and a 3 year old son. Just never have felt the need to involve religion and/or the government in my relationship.

I think that as long as women and men are well-informed, experienced individuals then we get along fine.

No, I did not pay attention if you were male or female, since my point that males and females are not match from heaven is not sexually determined and hence interchangeable. 'It seems to me' (this is by the way a phrase that Al Gore's lawyer constantly used in the infamous duel of 2000 if you ever listened to it), that if there is any consistency in history, be it politically or on the level of man and woman it is that of constant 'unrest'.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Pops', 'H')i rumble, do a search for Redwood Empire (pstarr?) .

We moved from Cent. Ca (Modesto) to Missouri to get away from the hoards-to-be but you may be able to find a good place up there in the sticks.

Cool Pops, You must have heard that "Missouri loves company" Oh groan. Forgive me.

i know that is a simplistic view, but what you are talking about just has too many avenues for me tonight. Hope you don't mind too much. You seem like you might get a little snappy about things.

Missouri is not to be underestimated. These days some avoid Europe alltogether on the survival scale due to the possible breakdown of the North Atlantic ocean current. Pops might feel save in the 'heartland' for various reasons. Maybe there a parts of America that are made of steel, Bethlehem steel that is!
