More Petty Gripes

The peak oil crowd includes theoildrum.com. One of the stars there is Alanfrombigeasy. The light rail guy. He's always ending his posts with best hopes about this or that. Best Hopes for Malaysian Molusks, or Best Hopes for Tapioca. It gets on my nerves. There, I've said it. Alan Drake for President. Just don't make me listen to his speeches.

Maybe so, but I've been reading theoildrum for a long time and I'm getting really tired of Alan's cutesy taglines. I did just get one myself and I'm already thinking I should delete it.

Greyzone rips on just the behavior you speak of at TOD...

into the grey zone

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')s it any wonder why these morons who believe in magical technology are considered scientifically illiterate dreamers? Replies like this just leave you shaking your head. Of course we might be able to build the recharging stations to do this but as Twilight points out, it is one massive hellacious engineering problem! It is non-trivial in the extreme and it shows why we need to move to electrified mass transit rather than more cars. Yet there are the defenders of the suburban craziness inventing even more nonsense out of thin air to defend their non-sustainable way of life.

That's not the behavior I'm talking about at TOD. All I'm talking about is style. I can't stand those cutesy taglines he does. Isn't that clear enough?

Best Hopes the next bottle of wine will make Peak Oil go away.

Make it a triple, but I sure do wish that Alan would give up that cutesy nonsense. And for that matter, how is light rail going to solve our problems? I have more respect for Leanan on this issue. Maybe I'd listen to Alan more if he'd just quit with the goofy gimmicks. But yes, I know that these issues run much deeper than superficialities.
