')Halliburton and Schlumberger are the Bloods and Crips of the oilfield services industry.
I used to work for them. It's a hard nosed business. I've seen them face hard times before, but it's nothing like the ass fucking that lies ahead.

Why do you think so? They have technology that the oil companies need. Of Halliburton's 10 largest customers 4 are national oil companies (NOCs).

Halliburton Is My Messiah

If only there were more Iraqs
for you to exploit, O Halliburton,
My guiding light.

I would gladly see
A million insurgencies
So that you can drill
All night long.
In the desert sand.

You are my savior.

False Messiah in a Bleach White Tree
Hosannas for Hal sez Tweedle-e-dee
Tweedle-e-dum sez what's to come
Will make the cornucopian head go numb

Rockin Robin Rockin Robin
Go Rockin Robin cuz we're
Really gonna rock tonight.

The wise old owl whoo whooin old oil
Frogs in the pot it's beginning to boil
All the day birds got a OIM in their beak
Love to hear the sparrow sing "peak peak peak."

Rockin Robin Rockin Robin
Go Rockin Robin cuz we're
Really gonna rock tonight.

If I fell in love with you
And you saw the oil get through
Would you help meee.. understand

can we get some more next week
are our chances oh so bleak
What's that I hear of oil sands...

If I've got no gas alas
I reckon I am through
Not much more that I can do
Besides siphoning gas

Halliburton Sacrifice

Is there anything I wouldn't sacrifice
To you, O Halliburton,
Fire of my loins?

My soul. Morality. Oh who cares?
Those things are meaningless next to your greatness.
I would sacrifice it all to you my Lord.
You are my Emperor.

Some day Halliburton will take over the world.
If only Biblical prophecy comes true.

Pray harder.

Time of Doom

Like lemmings falling off a mindless cliff,
The Ship of Fools drifts into the stormy night.
Talking monkeys caught in a final, baffled tiff,
A fatal, blind inertia binds them tight.
Yet many chase the American Dream - As if,
The Time of Doom is not in sight.

Love all your work, people. Good to see you holmes. I just haven't come up with anything original, but I find lots to appreciate. Here's a classic that says a lot.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'D')OVER BEACH
By Matthew Arnold
The sea is calm tonight,
The tide is full, the moon lies fair
Upon the straits; on the French coast the light
Gleams and is gone; the cliffs of England stand,
Glimmering and vast, out in the tranquil bay.
Come to the window, sweet is the night air!
Only, from the long line of spray
Where the sea meets the moon-blanched land,
Listen! you hear the grating roar
Of pebbles which the waves draw back, and fling,
At their return, up the high strand,
Begin, and cease, and then again begin,
With tremulous cadence slow, and bring
The eternal note of sadness in.

Sophocles long ago
Heard it on the Agean, and it brought
Into his mind the turbid ebb and flow
Of human misery; we
Find also in the sound a thought,
Hearing it by this distant northern sea.

The Sea of Faith
Was once, too, at the full, and round earth's shore
Lay like the folds of a bright girdle furled.
But now I only hear
Its melancholy, long, withdrawing roar,
Retreating, to the breath
Of the night wind, down the vast edges drear
And naked shingles of the world.

Ah, love, let us be true
To one another! for the world, which seems
To lie before us like a land of dreams,
So various, so beautiful, so new,
Hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light,
Nor certitude, nor peace, nor help for pain;
And we are here as on a darkling plain
Swept with confused alarms of struggle and flight,
Where ignorant armies clash by night.

You can burn my house
Steal my Car
Drink my liquor
From my own fruit jar
Do anything
You want to dude
But uh uh honey
Lay off 'o that crude
Don't you
rely on that sweet cheap crude.

btw, mg, that Arnold poem is one of my favorites. Real poetry as opposed to this doggerel comedy. But I like doggerel comedy. Oh well.

I'll have a go at this....... :)

while the oil's a burning, which our wheels keeps a turning,
the ice is melting, and another baby is born.

and while the economy is growing, the seeds of our demise we are sowing,
And while the children of India are going through are garbage bags, another baby is born.

and while I am consuming, mother nature I am mooning,
because for all I care another baby is born.........Mine.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Bas', '

First Holmes has his finger up his butt, now you are flashing your butt cheeks at Mother Nature. This is going downhill. Maybe we need some more Matthew Arnold.

Halliburton Eunuch

I would gladly castrate myself in a ditch with Holmes
to show my admiration for you, O Halliburton.
You are an avatar among mortals.

Your omnipotence has no limits.
Your technological wisdom omniscient.
Your profits infinite.

All at the expense of the Iraqnids.
May you pump every last drop from Iraq.

Amen.

I'm gonna have another go at it....

the bounty in fiat currency terms, will soon be nothing more than a can of worms,
the rage against the political elite, especially those in America,
won't save us from decisive and global economic defeat.

the luxury of being able to speak your mind, is taken for granted,
yet the meaning of life, you and I still have to find.

while paranoia and confusion are taking hold, and all things on credit are sold,
I will not give up the things that I believe in, which are few,
like feeling on the grass with my bare feet the dew, I feel the beginnings of an age anew.

Why do the wells keep on pumping
Why do the ships ply the seas?
Don't theeeeey know
It's the end of the world
Peak Oil has got us on
our knees.

I wake up in the morning
And I wonder
How long can things
Remain the same

I can't understand
No I can't understand
How life goes on
The way it does

Why do the sheep go on bleating
Why can't I move to Paraguay
I can't understand
No I can't understand
Make me a bird and I'll fly

and another...

the invisible hand that has been dealing the cards,
to us individuals, states and and humanity as a whole,
it stacked the cards against us and raised the stakes now to include our very soul.

Who or what is this dealer? God, the devil or maybe just our own shadow, we will never know.

As the cards are being played out it seems we're only playing against eachother; ruthless, brother against brother.
It becomes apparent, it's less than a zero sum game,
State against State, religion against religion,
the outcome will be the same.

Great pain is foreseen if we continue on this path,
we will suffer the consequences of our very own shadow, it's wrath.
Yet it only takes a few that insist to continue on this curse of competition, to lead us in a war of nuclear fission.
It was written and it was wrong, by religion this world was bitten,
these ancient books are at fault, which will be proven before long.

While we suffer from our many addictions, and revel in self righteousness, the holy books were right only in the things that are nothing more than common sense.

now take these words and know full well, that you can make a difference that might be amplified in time and can avoid an earth turned into hell.

Nobody is perfect, surely not I, but we're not ignoring what might be coming, though it might turn out a lie.
Reasons aplenty for discontinuing are wasteful ways, our moral decline,
yet Greed is the creed, even the face of mortal sin and you make it sound fine.

There's no easy solution for the perils we find ourselves in, worse, those perils are subject of political spin,
A social green future is our only hope, yet religeous and economic fundamentalists don't see the scope,
the scope of the fucking mess economists and preachers got us in.

quit a nice way of getting stuff of your chest, good idea PMS!
