SeaReaping will be an important component of post-peak life as wars rage across every continent. As noted in the "Art of War" & the "Karate Kid", the best defense?

No be there...

Oceanic Compounds have a distinct advantage... location. With cannon to reach the horizon, & constantly chumming the water with our vanquished foes, our Sea Fortress will become an important element as land-based resources fail.

So in keeping with this ancient wisdom of avoiding conflict, we offer this modern-day version of a medieval castle.

Preference given to any applicants with webbed toes.

Gills optional

Can we paint them in pastel colors as I do not think the rusty iron look is still "in".

Maybe we could add those new cameras and HD monitors all around projecting the image of the water and sky making it look as if we are really not there?

It would be best to build it in the tropics, that way you can use the form of OETC that produces large quantities of freshwater.

Then you'd have all the freshwater you needed in order to survive and thrive.

In order to tap into the ocean floors vast mineral resources, you might send down powerful ultrasonic waves to cut out the rock, then you could send down a metal claw like structure to retrieve what you wanted.

That way you could tap into the vast underwater mineral resources.

With the rock you could melt it down to create hollowed out floating structures, which could then be used to build things on.

Another possibility in order to grow the food you need, you could have an inflatable land mass, basically plastic with a hard surface and dirt on top.

THis way you could cheaply turn ocean areas into viable farmland for cultivation for food production and trade.

Wouldn't a deserted lush tropical island be more practical? You could then even carve the local stone into huge heads and point them looking out to sea in vigilance.

Ya gotta admit that's pretty cool...

And the rust/corrosion look is to strike fear into the hearts of our enemies.

The inside will look like a palace; complete with servants and steam baths & such.

Nice pic, Boss; good perspective rendition and the little boat in the background is a nice touch.

I can guess where the saltpeter comes from but what about the sulfur?

It seems to me they had things like this 60 years ago with much bigger and better supplied guns and though those platforms were mobile, they were defeated by much less expensive means.

As far as No Be There, you are pretty obviously there, immobile and with something to protect. Nothing draws attention like big guns obviously protecting something like Shanny’s tomatoes; just ask some of our folks now deployed in various locales.

If the US has learned anything in the last 250 years it should be the possibilities of asymmetric warfare.

Several good swimmers with appropriate devices could easily cause them tomatoes to float and a few more could pluck the harvest.

I guess I will respectfully decline your offer.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he Shivering Sands seaforts
The seaforts, built in 1942, were created as anti-aircraft and observation platforms to disrupt Luftwaffe bombing runs to London. Decommissioned in the 1950s, they were used by pirate radio stations in the 60s, but have since fallen back into disuse.

Is it OK if a naval vessel from the Australian Navy comes to visit? They need a place to hide all the naval women who have had taxpayer-supported surgical "enhancements" until the fuss in Ausssieland blows over.

Might I suggest that we pay for our sea forts with a loan priced in American dollars?

With interest rates dropping and inflation soon to be on the upswing, it would basically be free money.

Question before I make a commitment to your wonderful enterprise. How good are these at submerged use, if Greenland melts and all you might need some good waterproofing in those underwater platforms.

But if we paint it up with flowers and peace signs, their guard will be down when we bring out the heavy artillery.

Good point... you're in.

(I know the price of ammo and Kalashnikovs will cost the same price as what you can obtain for a chicken)

May I interest you in the sale of a few small-sized nuclear powered armoured vessels? They will give your forces a reasonable level of increased protection and provide you with a tactical advantage over your enemies...
