$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('DavidFolks', 'H')ow did I find out about Peak Oil? I came to the conclusion a decade or so ago that petrochemical/hydrocarbon energy was not a sustainable way to power the planet, so I guess I intuited the concept of peak oil and problems with resource depletion.
I had hoped to find a community of people who were actively pursuing solutions to energy problems. I was a little disappointed to be confronted by a lot of doom, gloom, and general nit-picking over ideology.
We're going to find solutions. You can lead, follow, or get out of the way.
Or maybe you'll get drafted, fight & die in some desert.
Lots of your fellow humans will, no doubt.
Perhaps helping inform folks of the potential consequences of depletion seems "doomy" to you. I see it as a needed vehicle to stir public opinion & get more eyes on the problem.
While your own preparations are a commendable demonstration of how insightful & clever you are to have foreseen the difficulties & prepared yourself accordingly, unless your neighbors do likewise I don't see how you plan to avoid the most potent consequence of peak oil.
War
Then again, maybe your skills will prove useful down the road in a POW camp or something.
Individual prep is kinda like chewing gum on line.
You better have brought enough for everybody.
The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.
