Kate Blanchett Plays Bob Dylan

Unread postby PenultimateManStanding » Tue 10 Jul 2007, 22:11:44

The film biopic about Dylan is set for release this September. Kate Blanchett plays Dylan in his "androgynous phase" around 1966. This is interesting and I can see how she could pull it of visually, but I'm wondering how she will sound. It's easier for a guy to try and sound girlish than for a girl to sound like a guy. We'll see (and hear). I'm watching an Australian flick with Blanchett in it and she does sound like an Aussie. I'll bet she studied all those '66 interviews and maybe she'll pull it off. Maybe she smoked three packs a day to get a raspy quality. heh heh

The divine Ms. Blanchett can play anything. She'll amaze us as Dylan. She'll find a way to knock us dead.

The thinking man's sex symbol.

(BTW, it's "Cate", not "Kate", and she was born just outside Melbourne. I think she didn't set foot outside Australia until she was 18 or so.)

I didn't know that Z, thanks. And yeah, she does appeal to the thoughtful folks. I'll be fascinated to see how she plays Bob Dylan. Such a talent, Cate that is. btw, the Dylan biopic has an interesting title: I'm Not There.

Joan Zit of the Blackheads manages to sound like a Beatle OK, and Dylan was always wispy and effete.....
