Solution to opium problem.

We create a plant virus that targets the popie plants that produce opium.

Then we distribute this all over, so that all the popie plants around the world begin to shrivel and die.

This could also possibly work for marjuiana.

The end result- Less opium.

What do you think?

That you are an idiot for thinking shit like this.

Note: this is a response to the question "what do you guys think?" and I did not call anyone an idiot but rather that I think this person is an idiot and yes there is a HUGE difference as I note certain person's of power use this same tactic all the time in order to sidestep the coc.

That humans kill humans not plants edit: kill humans.

I think the solution to the opium problem is for the plant kingdom to rise up and kill all of the stupid humans! 8)

How's this for a solution sped , mail it all to me and I'll make sure it disappears , I prefer the unrefined raw opium , it's ummmm.... easier on my disposal equipment .
Perhaps the population would be less swayed to socialism if we had fewer examples of socialism from our "Free Market Capitalists". -----fiddler dave

Ever wonder why the golden triangle and golden crescent produce more and more opium every year?
Because the CIA have taken over these areas and you can't run any opium without them giving you the OK along with a cut of the profits.
So if you want to take your bright idea over to them, go right ahead

Yes, they sell drugs to get money to pay for secret wars around the globe.

Only doctors and big pharma sell more drugs.

Well, considering that opium and it's derivatives are the single best pain killing compounds on the planet (better even than synthetic analogs) and that modern medicine would be pretty much impossible without it, I'd say it's a pretty bad idea.

This is horrible. marijuana and opium are both very good and very useful plants. You're stupid to want to kill them. Why don't we just throw another 2 billion into the bottomless void we call the war on drugs? Regulation, not prohibition.

Ask the Midwest farmers that have been trying to eradicate wild hemp for the last 70 years. Look at my sig if you don't get it...

Or perhaps if you don't like opium then you should stop smoking it.

Geez, now I wonder if *they* are gonna come to my garden centers and spray all the poppies that I sell during the spring season.
You know I have lots of them to choose from...

I did think about this as someone whom I write to once in awhile who is living in Poland (countryside) told me that now since Poland is in the "war on terror" all the poppies are being sprayed/eradicated in her area.
These were the poppies people used to grow for color, yes, but also for poppyseeds, used quite copiously in Central and Eastern European pastries.
My own grandmother and Aunts used to make poppyseed kolachky's, poppyseed rolls and other assorted pastries from the seeds.

I think that there will come a time soon..when I will no longer see Poppies being offered on the perennials listings. I thought about that at the beginning of this season!

Reminds me of an article I stumbled upon a few years ago. Those people had the idea of breeding a pest that would go out and destory the coco plantations in various parts of Latin America. There's always the risk of the pest attacking other plants.

It would be a bad idea to try to get rid of the opium plant. There's those who need the meds for moderate to severe pain. Not only the morphine, and codeine, but the plant also produce other opiate alkaloids, which can be chemically modified to produce many of the pain killing pharma drugs found today.
