Geez, now I wonder if *they* are gonna come to my garden centers and spray all the poppies that I sell during the spring season.
You know I have lots of them to choose from...
I did think about this as someone whom I write to once in awhile who is living in Poland (countryside) told me that now since Poland is in the "war on terror" all the poppies are being sprayed/eradicated in her area.
These were the poppies people used to grow for color, yes, but also for poppyseeds, used quite copiously in Central and Eastern European pastries.
My own grandmother and Aunts used to make poppyseed kolachky's, poppyseed rolls and other assorted pastries from the seeds.
I think that there will come a time soon..when I will no longer see Poppies being offered on the perennials listings. I thought about that at the beginning of this season!
