$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Cloud9', 'J')ust exactly how would slaves make oil? Would we squish them and put them in a pressure cooker or would we work them to death in some ethanol plant?

  That's great!
After fueling up their cars, Twyman says they bowed their heads and asked God for cheaper gas. There was no immediate answer, but he says other motorists joined in and the service station owner didn't run them off.

Righteous!!

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('jboogy', ' ')Dude , after high-school I wandered around in a marijuana, alcohol and cocaine induced haze with a perpetual hard-on for 2 years, for 3 years after that I worked ,partied, spent a lot of time in bars and sowed some more oats, had LOTS of fun. You need to kiss that GAWD shit goodbye and live a little. Especially if TSHTF !

Memories are all you’re going to have in the end so make em’ good ones. Besides , if you really have the sex drive of a watermelon you got bigger problems than your immediate future. You should be a walking testosterone filled nut-sack at your age . You need to see a doctor , get some Viagra and start making the girls smile. There will be plenty of time for real life down the road, and if there is no down the road after TSHTF, all the more reason to raise hell in the time you have left

Another doozy.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('threadbear', 'Y')our posts have indicated oil was a factor in the cause of population growth, which is not necessarily so....What fuelled the birth rate was testosterone.

I notice many, shall we say, "negative quotes", how about some portion of this basic and positive advice.

And on review before submitting my post it seems there is an impending flame war here as well – wtf is up with you people?

Is gasoline too cheap? Can't wait for the Big One?

Find a way to work off your stress and anxiety somewhere else for Christ's sake, this gets tiring!

Anyway, from SpringCreekFarm:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'Y')ou start planning with the real show stoppers. Water, food, shelter, heat and on down the line to watever makes you more comfortable and secure. Thats how I plan. Being able to prioritize and being flexible are the keys to always moving forward with this pursuit of preparation.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('JPL', ' ')Human imagination is a much more powerful force for change on this planet than fossel fuels. As we have seen on this forum, it can create utter darkness, suffering & despair. But it can also build cathederals and cities from nothing but mud and stone and human sweat & blood.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('JohnLudi', 'A')rguing with either Global Warming Denialists or Peak Oil Denialists is about an effective a use of time for myself as arguing with the crazy homeless people loitering on 80% of the streetcorners here in Chicago.

I generally don't bother.

The FACTUAL evidence is overwhelming. Generally people who can't see it either (1) have not looked at the evidence, (2) have an underlying political/religious/philosophical agenda that eventually comes to light with enough prodding, or (3) are developmentally compromised in some way.

Every second you waste on a probable troll is one where you could be communicating to a probable thinking and rational human being (not that it will do all that much good at this stage in the game).

And that's all I have to say about it...

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Alfred Tennyson', 'W')e are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'E')conomics requires growth, and its appetite is blind: like a hungry animal with no sense of taste, it attempts to eat anything it can get its hands on.

The Trouble with Economics-gg3

This quote's got a soul. It's poetic, it's true, and I'm awfully fond of similes and metaphors. Thanks, gg3.
