Um, don't you have to have a union before you can have a Reunion? As far as I'm aware, we haven't had a union yet.

A reunion? Well, maybe there's a more fuel efficient way to do this. We could consider local meetings and then these would be shared somewhere on the board.

I'm near Portland and there are certainly more than a few PO.com readers living nearby, for example.

We're all too geographically spread out to have any type of reunion. Even in densely populated areas lacks even several people who are on this board.

That's not entirely true. I was going to meet up with retired guy and a few of his friends who are peakoil aware, but I busted up my knee enough that I couldn't make it. Soon as I find out how bad this is on Tuesday, I'll be rescheduling. And I've had people from this board say "hey, let's meet up " before. There are at least 5 people from this board in the immediate madison wisconsin area, and probably more like 10 to 20 within easy driving distance.

I would offer that we organize a peakoil.com convention. Maybe we could get Heinberg, Savinar or Simmons to show up and speechify.

Anyways, the thought has occured to me that we are few in number and how could we band together in a more tangible, less...ethereal, way in order to strengthen our chances of survival in a (possible) Mad Max world? I know I would feel a helluva lot more secure post-peak if I were among others who had the foresight to know what was coming and who have prepared, especially mentally, accordingly.

I'm not into the Peak Oil gabfest circuit.

Heinberg and Simmons, you're probably going to need a signifcant amount of money for speaking fees. They are both very popular on the circuit.

What's funny is I get flamed up the wazoo on these forums for selling solar ovens (which I make $25 on) and survival/self-sufficiency books (which I make maybe $7-$10 on) things that might actually help you survive once TSHTF.

yeah, it would be fun to see some folks here afraid to talk 1/10th of the trash in real life they spew here.

it would also be damn funny to see what some of the loudest trash talkers look like in real life. Scary-funny but funny nonetheless.

(Not you specifically clueless)
