this one is pretty good too but I don't see why the guy didn't just lay the ball down softly when his opponent was so far away.

I'm not kidding, ping pong is the greatest sport. It beats baseball, cricket, futbol or football.

Though no one is replying, I do know that some folks are reading, so let me say that wiki says that Victorian aristocrats invented ping pong. Jolly Good Show! Bloody Sporting!

We used to set up the ping-pong table in the driveway and all the neighborhood kids would come over and play (when I was growing up). My brother wasn't so good (bad eyesight), but my sisters and I could beat anyone in the hood.

UFC [smilie=boxing.gif] ,running back taking a few solid hits from 250lb. linebackers and 220lb. safeties and staying on his feet can get my blood pumping [smilie=5footballhelmet.gif] ,power forward intent on tomahawk dunking over an equally dedicated defender who is in no mood for it,that can be intense [smilie=icon_rr.gif] .Ping-pong? yeeaahhh ,I guess it could be defined as intense....I guess, definately entertaining though.

I can't say how much I love that game. Watching those Chinese players is thrilling. Far more interesting than the World Cup in 'soccer' which is as boring as it gets.

Playing the game can be intense,I almost got in a fist-fight as a teenager once when my losing opponent took offense at my victory dance,F*CK EM!watching soccer is almost as bad as watching golf, growing up I'd go to my grandparents house and invariably fall asleep on the floor when trying to understand what my uncle and grampa saw in televised golf. I'd be laying there wanting to watch TV and giving them a steady stream of ,"this is stupid,I can't believe you guys watch this boring crap, those people standing there clapping because he hit a ball with a club need to get a life,I think there's a documentary about paint drying on channel 12, it would be more interesting than this." I got to hand it to them though, they'd just tell me to shut-up and keep watching.eventually I'd put my head down onto my folded arms and drift off into slumberland and peace would once again reign supreme in the living room. THE END

I don't understand PMS, I never said ping-pong was painful,I said watching it was entertaining and playing it could be intense.intense can be synonomous with thrilling. what is it about my post that pained you?you like watching golf?you are bothered by children annoying their elderly relatives?perhaps the thought of pre-pubescent boys sleeping on floors gives you the creeps?I assure you ,both me and the floor were reasonably clean. Was it the use of the word f*ck?please tell me what you found offensive in my post so I can be sure not to offend your sensabilities in a similar fashion in the future.RSVP

Yeah, you are probably right and I was out of line. I'm very defensive about ping pong. You didn't say anything bad about it so please accept my apologies. I love that game, I really do.

You don't ever have to apologize to me PMS.In retrospect I should have deduced that your love of ping-pong was equatable to the love a mother bear feels for her cubs,it's not only an actual attack that will set her defences in motion, any PERCEIVED attack ,whether real or imagined , can be enough to have her fly into a psychotic rage. [smilie=dontknow.gif] I will remember your reverance of the game and in the future speak only in the most glowing terms when discussing ping-pong, AND british period romances ,just in case. I don't think I've read anything more charming than this, btw, don't diss Tom Jones either by Henry Fielding.

Tom Jones is the worst piece of FUCKING DRIVEL ever written!!!I have a copy hanging next to the toilet that I use for you know what! One stinking page at a time. [smilie=angry5.gif] Just kidding PMS, I've heard it's good and it's been on my "to read "list forever ,along with the catcher in the rye and some of hemingways stuff,I can't seem to get away from the horror novels and political stuff long enough to get to it though. one of these days.

I've read it many times. Put it on your list of books to read. It's a marvelous read.

It's strange but I have read alot of books time and time again(stephen king-early stuff, the godfather, some of dean koontz's stuff)even though I know there's tons of great literature out there that I don't already know the ending to!I've asked myself why I do this and the only reason I can come up with is that certain books transcend others in that they can completely transport me into the story,I'll lose awareness of my surroundings and the outside world in general and just get lost in another place and time.when younger I read and reread ,the wind in the willows, watership down,my side of the mountain,j.r.r. tolkien, etc. for the same reason.the story isn't a means to an end, the storytelling itself is the end, great writing is it's own reward irrespective of the end result of the plotline.Does this make sense?(enjoying the taste of the steak and the act of chewing instead of the feeling of fullness and hunger satisfied)
