Welcome to the forum, Phill. Brave of you to stop by.
What most here seem to want to know is whether you know anything of peak oil (the name, you may have noticed, of this site).
I am guessing that like most economists, you see this, if you see it at all, as something that the market will magically solve--as the price goes up with decreasing supplies, people will invest in better extraction techniques and alternative sources.
Is that a fair statement of your position? (I didn't read all of your articles, but you seem to say something like that in one of them.)
And PDoom, I lived through Jimmy, too. Doubtless he could have been a better leader. But doubtless, too, Americans could have been better followers. Just imagine if we had taken up his call to work toward energy independence and environmental stewardship with the vigor we put into fighting WWII. But we just couldn't stand his cardigan, his southern drawl, and his calls for sacrifice and sanity. We still can't.
(OK, Now bring on the trollish rant!)
