On the dutch television program 2 vandaag there was a reportage abourt the coming oil shortage. It was in dutch but with lots of foreign experts It was quit good and some good info. Any of the dutch members here seen it? You can watch the show on the internet starting tomorrow. I missed the beginning, but i am gonna watch everything tomorrow. Some of the things they said on the show were: if we don't change our lifesty in 10 till 15 years time, it might be to late. Another point was that most of american oil came from unstable regions like venezuela, afrika and the middle east. This would create big problems for america in the future. Also they said on the show that for every 1 barrel of oil we find, we consume 3 barrels of oil. Also that russia and the north sea are about to peak shortly.

I've seen it too. Just like you I saw only the second half of the reportage. I found it quit good either. Now just hope that they make a sequel where they look for what to do in the near-future. Maybe then politics will begin to realise that they are dealing with a very serious matter  And take real action to lessen the impact of peak oil and all the other problems that are coming at us.

If this report is possible than maybe anything is possible :-D .

By the way I have never seen my family watching television this intense. They are beginning to get convinced about the coming problems.

I just caught the rerun. Wow This is really the strongest peakoil argument I've ever seen.

The basic message was.

- We have basically found all the oil there is to find.
- Our oil reserves are rapidly running out. Production is going to peak soon.
- Production is already lagging behind on demand. With time this gap will only grow. Therefore prices will continue to rise like they have done last year.
- As no amount of technology can stop the decline of the production we have to find alternatives to oil.
-this is the greatest task that we have ever faced, because every aspect of our life is dependent on oil.

They had a very impressive panel of geologists, economists, and oil producers to support that message.

Of course it contained the usual suspects like Campbell and Rifkin, but they also found some new sources. Among them was an official from the EIA who admitted to the peak.

The most stunning part I found the reaction of the anchor who presents the program. After watching the documentary he almost seemed emotional. He appealed to the politicians to do something about it because: "I think this is very urgent".

This program has a pretty large audience. I just looked at the stats and about 6% of the population watches it so I think this documentary is going to have serious impact.

Totally agree with Smiley. The report was very good and honest. A pity that they don't have the rights for the report. I think, I will mail the 2 vandaag board if they are planning to broadcast it again and if they know a site where you can view the report online.
