Peak Oil Math

Unread postby Aziere » Thu 05 Jul 2007, 02:20:09

I don't understand this mumbo jumbo that is talk. I want numbers. And by numbers I don't mean graphs. I don't understand graphs. I want percentages. And if they're exponential, described just how much effect they will have in 10 years or so.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can supply this.

Here's a percentage for you: Humanity is 100% screwed.

I hope that helps you better understand peak oil. :)

It's not that I don't understand peak oil. I just don't understand when it's going to happen. I'd like to see numbers and make my own opinion.

Aziere, in case you haven't seen it yet --

Arithmetic, Population and Energy.

You won't get precise predictions, but you'll see The Numbers.

First, welcome to the board! Second, you'll find that for the most part people here expect each other to do their own analysis. You say you don't want graphs, but if you're having trouble understanding those then posting the mountain of data that goes into such a construct probably won't help you either. It's a difficult problem, but it's not insurmountable. Do the homework, learn the math, hang out here for a while. There are no easy answers, but if you immerse yourself in the problem, you should have a pretty good handle on all the issues in a few months time.
