Does the Constitution need to be rewritten for Today?

Unread postby Atlantean_Relic » Mon 18 Jun 2007, 23:26:37

On another board I lurk at a poster, felt that though the Constitution is a great document, it needs to be rewritten in some areas to conform to the facts of life in today society(he failed to say what those parts were, leading me to think he is blowing a little bit of hot air).Despite that is the Constitution getting antiquated?

I think it could be changed or added to in some areas, but surprisingly little. It all depends on the specific changes proposed. Amendments should be able to handle any change.

im not American

but the constitution is there to protect you dummies

Can't you see what the government is doing/has done ?

Bush: "the constitution is just a god damn peice of paper".

The government can call you a terrorist, then lock you up indefinitely with no trial, no chance of bail etc. You'll just fucking disappear. Didn't the new patrioc act actually give them the power to secretely execute you also ? Did that one get through. Either way, just wake the up.

I can think of some amendments that need to be dumped, but the Constitution is otherwise about as good as you can get.

And who would rewrite it?

You'd trust Bush to protect your freedoms?

The constitution just needs to be reread. For instance, "Nothing but gold or silver shall be considered money" or something to that effect. We all have seen where that has gone.
